I have been tasked to come up with a patrol rifle program at my department and also purchase the rifle for said program. I originally made the pitch for it to be just a personally owned program but the powers that be want at least one department owned rifle to be avalible to officers that do know personally own a AR.
I have been working on this for monthsand finally got it approved so now I need to get the department rifle asap so we can qualify and get them on the street. My problem is, I had my mind set on a BCM Middy mod 2 but I have been given a 4-8 week wait from BCM. I was going with that due to it coming with a rail and we would not need to purchase one. Any suggestions what/where to look? I’d personally just purchase a 6920 and get a Omega and be done with it but I have to play the game.
That is an excellent price on a 6920. May have to pick another one up. I would look no further than this. I’m not sure you can purchase a better rifle at that price.
Damn! The past six month, have seen the price on a LE6920 drop from $1200 to $1150 and recently to $1100. Under a $1000?!!! Man,that price is just sick! Anyone in the market for a carbine should not hesitate, repeat, NOT hesitate to jump on this deal. That price should be outlawed!
Buy the Colt brother. BCM or LMT are good to go and what I own but I have to say that is an awesome price and you will not have to waste time and energy explaining why LMT and BCM are good to go. I personally get frustrated by that. I wish there was a chart or something to explain it. :sarcastic: I showed a local Chief my LMT SBR and he said yeah but is it as good as a DPMS or BushMaster?
I second the sbr route. My department uses Colt Commandos and I have grown quite fond of that shorter barrel especially for urban duty. It is ten times easier to clear homes and buildings with an 11.5 than a 16". We have flip up rear sights and use a Trijicon Reflex as out optic (no batteries). All in all its not a bad set up at all.
