what a loopy law. no guns off of your property when a state of emergency is declared in NC.
i wonder if it ever gets enforced.

I doubt it. Especially if you’re carrying concealed. Who’s going to know?
interesting that Virginia has a law that allows the governor to post emergency shelters as off-limits.
How sad. He should have authorized an “Open Carry” law.![]()
Exactly, that would make them think twice.

How tragic that our elected officials still cannot seem to grasp the connection between times of emergency and duress and the people’s Second Amendment protections. If anything, these rights are even more important when civil infrastructures are in danger of breaking down.
The fact that this logic is again being overlooked is merely more evidence that most politicians still see guns primarily in the context of sport and hunting. SCOTUS may have ruled in our favor, but as we’ve seen in Washington D.C., the creative interpretation and redefinition of terms continues.
RH is right: open carry would be a far better alternative. As the old saying goes, “an armed society is a polite society.”

This is nothing new; NC Gov. has destroyed the state with his “Education Lottery” that has taken more money out of the pocket of NC citizen despite all of the ads telling residents of all the money they are going to win. Now, money is going into the general fund that was supposed to be bugeted for “Education” to make up for his bad desicions ($750million he took out to pay for retirement packages without permission to or any way to make up the shortfall. ) They (the state) are also considering higher taxes on winnings to make up for buget shortfalls. This guy dosen’t care who he hurts. gun owners or not:mad:
Guess what? State of Emergency = Me armed. Period.
When things are at their most tenuous and emergency response never more strapped, there is no more of an essential time to safe guard yourself. What total horse shit.
What choice does any thinking person have under such circumstances? I mean are you seriously not going to arm yourself off of your property?
Kentucky has been doing it for years. I’d be surprised if the DOE sees one dime of this scam. Just another legalized and monopolized tax on the dumb and poor. Course our education ranks at 48-50th in the nation depending whether we’ve had a good year or not.
Exactly my thoughts…and I’m a NC resident.
“How a politician stands on the Second Amendment tells you how he or she views you as an individual… as a trustworthy and productive citizen, or as part of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised, and taken care of.”
Texas State Rep. Suzanna Gratia-Hupp
My one experience in being openly armed during a disaster tells me that laws like that pretty much go out the window when the SHTF, and nobody with a badge is going to care unless you are doing something else incredibly stupid.
I had some shitheads looting in my area a few years ago - or should I say, attempting to loot - and the local police did an awesome job, were all over it with 3 guys to a car, and gave me and my carbine a smile and a thumbs up before moving on to the next group of shitheads.
There is no way in hell that my N C cousins, all of whom were once 82nd, will disarm themselves.
