National ID Card. Napolitano discusses it on Fox.

Tell that to the Armenians who were slaughtered under the Ottoman Empire’s genocide.

That is why I said it depends who is in charge and when, so what you are telling me is that you are afraid that if you have a National ID card the American government will slaughter you and everybody else with a NIDC.

Did you look up? I think some black helicopters are right on top of your house at this moment.:p:D

You seem very naive, considering that you landed in Israel in 1959. You obviously don’t have a very good grasp of American history, nor that of the world at large.

It simply does not matter whether you believe the government currently in charge would misuse information gained by usurping States rights. You have to conceive of a future where the wrong people are in charge and would do exactly that. It doesn’t matter whether you belive that to be today, next year or 100 years from now.

History has proven that it will eventually happen, whether you believe it or not. Fail to understand that history and you are doomed to repeat it. :frowning:

As a retired INS agent (with a helluva lot of illegal alien arrests to my credit) I can tell you that this is total BULLSHIT. In my years of trying to enforce the law, the problems weren’t that the laws were insufficient or that there was no “universal worker ID card” to go on. Just like any other kind of law enforcement we used the authority we had and street sense, and within our resources could do a pretty good job. We didn’t need any stinking US ID cards to figure out who was who 99% of the time.

The problem has ALWAYS been a lack of will on the part of Administrations and Congress to enforce the laws with sufficient resources and willpower. Democrats have always wanted to coddle minorities for political purposes and Republicans have always seen immigrants as cheap, docile labor. Both manipulated the hell out of poor, vulnerable people for their own venal ends–and still do. Needless to say, to the detriment of the taxpayers and US citizens whose livelihoods were impacted. The last time anyone can remember serious enforcement of the immigration laws was circa 1954, as the old timers related.

Although the line officers always did their damndest, there was never a day that the agency itself really wanted the law enforced. Now no one even pretends that is the case.

As for a national ID card–the day that I’m told I have to carry one is the day the musket comes off the wall and the war starts. I love my country but I love freedom more.

No, I was out celebrating St. Paddy’s day

I do not see a nation ID card doing anything except waste money. Illegals will still come here and live here, they will still be hired as cheap labor because there is no down side to doing it.

This year with my business license renewal there was a new form, application for public benefit or something that had to be notarized that I am a US citizen. A total waste of time and money because the city has not done anything except take money without caring who gave it to them. Instead of the city employee asking to see my drivers license, they make me pay a notary to check my license.

While the notary was stamping my form I asked if any illegals came in and she had a bunch come in. She said one guy has lived in the city for 10 years operating a business, his visa expired 7 years ago and his whole family was here illegally. Why isnt anyone checking on these visas? It isnt like the guy is hiding out, he runs a business and has been in the same place for 10 years.
