Name Change for school named after the first Gramdmaster of the KKK, Yea or Nay?

Forrest High School opened in 1959 in Jacksonville, Florida. There was a public vote to name the school and the Daughters of the Confederacy won. The school was named after Nathan B. Forrest. There have been several attempts over the years to change the name and the School district voted 7-0 to do so next year. Do you all think this is more political correctness or should the school name be changed?

This isn’t surprising. The school, the area surrounding it, and the people voting for the school district seats are not exactly who Forrest would want attending a school with his name on it anyway.

My biggest concern is that an F rated school with a 54% African American student population can’t find anything better to do than waste their time on petitioning the town for several years to get the school’s name changed.

Just rename it after a prominent Democrat like Robert Byrd.

Problem solved.

He was in the Klan and an original, perhaps founding member, once the Klan became violent, he left the organization and actually disbanded the first group in the late 1860s…

Every other damn thing in this state is named after Bobby Byrd. Enough already…

P.S. I don’t thing that would fly either as RCB admitted membership in the K to the third.

Membership? He was a chapter leader and recruiter.

I have an idea . . . they should re-name it one of two names. Martin Luther King Jr. High or Cesar Chavez High, let the masses fight it out in the streets to see who wins.

Name it the Barry Barack Hussein Obama Sotero School, and give all the employees a new social security number every other day. Free condoms for everyone, and the team mascot can be an oversized Sandra Fluke. The sports collective can be known as, “The Fightin’ Woodpeckers!”

The line at grajuamayshun can just process right down the street to the unemployment office…

In related news, students at Lame Deer High School protest renaming their school General George Armstrong Custer High School.

So they voted on the name change and 51% said keep the Forrest name and they decided to change it anyway? Why the hell take a vote? Hell…why vote on anything at future school board meetings…if they don’t “like” the results…they will just nullify the vote.

With the school’s poor track record and other problems…I’d say a name change is the least of their problems.

Their reasons (I use the term loosely) for wanting the name change are beyond flimsy. Things like “we want to move the school into the 21st century” what the hell does that even mean? Then there is the silly, “we think a name change will heal the division in the community.” Oh sure…the name on one damn elementary school is keeping Jacksonville FL from being harmonious! My guess is that 90% of the people that walk or drive past that school every day have NO IDEA who Forrest was and it has ZERO effect on their lives at all.

This is more symbolism over substance nonsense from liberals. Just like the changing of school mascots from “Redskins” or “Chiefs” to something else.

The name change will cost this already poor and failing school about 400 grand. Surely they could spend 400 grand on things that actually benefit the kids like computers or hiring better teachers. Typical wasting of money by a public school administration.

Do people really not have anything better to do?

He wasn’t a founding member, but he was the Klans first Grand Wizard and he issued KKK General Order Number One: “It is therefore ordered and decreed, that the masks and costumes of this Order be entirely abolished and destroyed.” He later resigned because he found the Klan undisciplined in their efforts.

Trayvon Martin High School.

:dance3:

They do have something better to do. They just don’t have the smarts to do it.

Besides being a racial terrorist, He was also a war criminal.

F#@k him and anyone who thinks he’s a hero.

Comparing Forrest to Robert Byrd is pretty foolish.

Do not let this turn into another Civil War re-enactment, thank you all very much.

Keep it focused on the high school, or I’ll trash this thing in a heartbeat.

Did anyone even read the friggin article? The school was given its name for the wrong reasons and against the desires of the students and administration tasked with naming the school. It was given that name out of pure hate induced spite. Could the money be better used on something else… yes, however to think the name should stick is just dumb.

Why? They were both KKK leaders?

Today and in the future there will be controversy over names, mascots, colors, etc. There will probably come a time when all contact sports will be banned so as to protect our children and reduce violence in society, but not before they basically neuter tradition. There will be no school names. Just school numbers. There will be no school colors on uniforms, so as not to be mistaken for or be associated with “gang colors”. Home uniforms will be “Ecru”, Road uniforms will be “Mauve”. No school names, logos, mascots, or anything else that could be misconstrued as evil or offensive. Only numbers will be allowed on jerseys and helmets. EXCEPT the following numbers will be BANNED: #1. #1 denotes being a winner or the best and we can’t have that. Makes everyone else feel like underachievers. #4. #4 is associated with the 4th of July. A date that represents the birth of a nation that has done so much to belittle the rest of the world. #11. #11 is associated with November 11. Veteran’s Day. We should not honor those that brought pain and suffering to “Foreigners” who only tried to fight back against an imperialist aggressor. #13. #13 is well known to be an “Unlucky” number. Also refers to the 13 original colonies that were really, really mean to natives and other races. #25. #25 is associated with Dec. 25th, Christmas. No further explanation is necessary. I’m sure there are a few more we could add but you get my drift.

I must have missed the part where Robert Byrd was a war criminal and murderer.
