I’m looking to finally buy my first rifle after years of having the itch. Since this is my first, I’d prefer to buy a complete rifle instead of piecing it together. I have a few specific wants, but I need help finding one that fits the bill. These are the things I’m looking for:
-14.5" or 16" barrel
-Mid-length gas system
-Free-float rail
-As light as possible
-As close to mil-spec as possible
-Would like to stay under $1200
With these wants, what rifle would you guys recommend? The BCM Recce14 and 16 look to be close to what I’m looking for, but slightly over my budget. I like the S&W MP15 MOE but the rail is not free-float. I am also military so some manufactures (like S&W) offer a decent discount or rebate, so keep that in mind. Thanks in advance.
Save a little more and get the exact rifle that you want, even if it is more than you initially wanted to spend. In the long run, $200-300 more isn’t much and if it is the exact rifle that you are wanting it is money well spent and you won’t be pouring money into the rifle later making it what you want.
