It’s from century arms. Bought it some odd years ago before I knew about century arms “worksmanship”.
Anyway, I’ve been taking it to the range recently and I’m getting constant stove pipes/failure to ejects. It always ends with a shell casing sticking out and a live round in the chamber.
I don’t have a clue what is causing this. I don’t have a camera to show the internals either.
I think the rifles gas port diameter maybe too wide and is being overgassed. I remember one of The Katar’s threads about his suppressed AK’s having similar stoppages and being caused in part by over gassng the action.
Yesterday was funny, I fired a round and the action stuck and dust cover dislocated. The casing was stuck on the left side of the receiver and had to disassemble the rifle to clear it. I initially thought the rifle KB’d.
So is my theory right, in the the rifle is being overgassed, or is it something else?
I’ve checked the ejector, obviously, but it looks undamaged.
Or should I not even worry about it and just sell the damn thing?
I had a similar problem with my old WASR. CA said that it was likely a gas regulation problem and I sent it back to them for repair. They fixed the problem, but I sold it as I felt that an AK should work reliably after only 1500rds through it.
If you have had it for a few years, you’ll probably either get a brand new one, or they will attempt to fix your current one.
WASR quality (at least from what I have seen) has gone up slightly in the past couple years, so hope that you simply get a new gun.
Century or not, the WASR series is not generally a crap quality weapon. Rough around the edges, sure, but as long as they are properly assembled, they should work perfectly.
If it’s over a year old, forget about it. I had an issue with a WASR and since the one year warranty was up, they wouldn’t do anything for me. They gave me the number of a gunsmith “who is familiar with our products.” I bet that gunsmith likes the job security of fixing Century’s fuck ups.
I ended up selling that WASR to a guy with a lot more patience for guns that don’t work than I have for $150.
