My Spike's Midlength

Been lurking for a while and realized that I’ve never posted. Just got back from the range a little while ago and figured that while I’m just snooping around, I’d post up a rifle I finished back in March. Not sure I would call this a “custom” or a “build” considering all I really did was assemble a bunch of individual parts to make a complete rifle. It’s nothing that hasn’t seen before so I apologize if this is the wrong section for it:

Spike’s (upper/lower) 14.5" midlength
PWS FSC556 brake (clocked and pinned)
Spike’s micro gas block
12" Daniel Defense lite rail (w/ ladder rail covers)
Magpul AVG
Daniel Defense LPK
Geissele SSA trigger
Spike’s BCG
Badger Ordnance left handed tactical charging handle
Magpul MIAD grip
Ambi sling mount
VLTOR IMOD stock
Spike’s heavy buffer
Magpul back ups (front and rear)
Eotech XPS 2-1

Complete rifle comes in at 8.5lbs (loaded) and after about 1k rounds since completed…not a single FTF, stovepipe, or any other hiccup to speak of.

Congrats, very nice

I have the exact same gun aside from choosing a CTR with extended pad. It shoots very well. I haven’t shot anything but PMC X-TAC 5.56 62 grain green tip out of it but it seems to like it. It grouped easy .5 at 50 yds. I am testing more tomorrow at 100. Have you found a specific type of ammo yours likes more than others or something to avoid?

Very cool! And no…nothing seems to get in it’s way. I think the barrel/gas-length makes it pretty much a workhorse. And Ive been shooting Wolf, PMC, Federal, Remington, Winchester, and even some random crap off the ground. It’s sent everything down range. Actually may order 1K rounds of Federal in the next week or so from Aim Surplus

Loooks great!

Good looking rifle! I’m waiting for a Spikes 14.5" middy to become available so I can pick one up. How do you like the PWS FSC556 brake? I was thinking about the Spikes DynaComp Extreme…

Nice looking rifle. What kind of rifle case is that? I can’t quite make out the lettering on it.

Thanks man. Really appreciate it. It took a while to piece everything togther, but I hd fun doing it and learned a ton from folks on places like this. Definitely rewarding when it’s finally all done and you can say you hand picked and assembled everything yourself. As for the PWS…I freakin LOVE it. It was between the Battlecop or the PWs…I feel ike I made the right choice. It turns the rifle in to a tack driver. Absolutely zero muzzle rise. Actually pretty amazed at how well it works. Some say the brakes are louder than the hiders and that you wont make any friends at indoor ranges them, but I cant see/hear a noticeable difference. I wont hesitate to suggest you go with the PWS FSC556.

The case is a Voodoo Tactical. I just threw a Spike’s patch that came with my last order. It’s a phenominal tactical bag, but its just that…a tactical bag. I find it hard to get everything I might need at the range in it.

Thanks. I thought that might be what it was, but couldn’t tell for sure.

Good choice with the trigger, you will like it alot!

Very Nice Spikes Build!

Very nice.

I got a Spikes middy just to try it out and for the money, it’s been a great shooter.
