My son keeps impressing me

My cub scout pack was asked to, and my son was was selected from among the pack, to present the National Colors at tonight’s Tampa Bay Lightning Vs. NJ devils NHL game. He will be accompanied by three other scouts presenting the State Colors as well as the BSA Council and Pack flags.

At 11 years old he continues to impress me. He consistently exhibits good leadership skills, morals, and decision making abilities. I could not have asked for finer boy to call my son.

Good for you my friend. While my son is a bit younger, I can relate to your sense of joy and can also appreciate the simple fact that you are so appreciative yourself.

May the positive attributes continue throughout his life.

Good for him, for he is a reflection of you and your teachings.

Ive got 4 year old twin boys, and can’t wait til they start getting into sports, shooting, scouts, ect. (Or whatever they want to do). They are still a bit to young to do much right now…

You guys are too kind. Personally I attribute his success to the milkman.

In the mean time they did great.

As a special bonus the 9 year old girl who sang the National Anthem nailed it. Suck on that Christina Aguilar.

Congratulations!

As someone who started out as a Tiger Cub and went all the way to getting my Eagle, I can tell you that the direction and experiences I had in Scouting help make me who I am today, and I say that in the best way possible. When my wife and I have children they’ll be in Scouts as soon as they’re old enough.

My son just turned 8 and joined our local church pack (they don’t have Tiger Cubs in our pack). He is excited. Today his uniform came by UPS (I ordered it from the national scout online store run by BSA as it was easier and also in our case cheaper since they ran a sale over valentines). He has been wearing it all day and reading the book showing me the various things. I am proud that he is excited as the Boy Scouts is more than a worthy program to help young boys become men.

I was in cub scouts and got my arrow of light but I did not go far in Boy Scouts, which I regret. (It is not like I was standing around on the stret corner bored causing problems though – our troop had an off year after a change in some leadership that took a while to get going and at the same time I was becoming involved in my HS band etc that had their rehearsals at the same time as our troop meetings so I elected the band instead).

My son is also in a local swimming club swim team program and he is getting much better constantly and really likes it. Also something I approve of.

I came to the realization recently that the way to keep kids out of trouble as they grow up is to keep them busy. (I am not saying that this is foolproof but I bet it works more often than not). When spring soccer starts I want to sign him up for that (won’t be his first time – he did it the last two years) and also find a karate or similar program for him. If he can maintain activity in scouts, some sports, and maybe some sort of music he will be too busy to be bored and stand around on the street corner with other kids hatching stupid plans to get into trouble.

You have every right to brag and be proud. It is not possible without good parenting. Raising kids is not easy.

I feel the same about my boy. I often wonder what I did to deserve him. My son is 14 and already has plans to attend the Air Force Academy. He is well on track with a 3.8 GPA and several AP classes.

My boy was born with the gun bug too, and “can I see your (insert gun model here) Dad”, usually ends up with him field stripping it.

This is a picture of my little bad ass from last football season. I promise I do not feed him steriods.

I hope and pray every night that he continues his path of success.

Congrats to you and your young man HES!

Thank you for sharing.

All too often I hear stories from parents having nothing but trouble from their kids. It’s good to hear about successes. Here are my two sons. I’m so proud of them, my heart near busts out of my chest

Congratulations to all for your fine sons & daughters. They all give us hope for our future

Gives me hope. My kids a little bad ass too… but still young.

Since we are on the “sons” topic I may as well jump in.

We had opening day of little league yesterday down here in florida and my 9yr old only had a triple,2doubles, and and a pair of singles in the first game of the day !!!

Btw, both his team and my 14yr olds team that I coach won the parade float competition as well. Good old dad forgot the camera so no pics:mad:

For all you people bitching about the cold I got sunburned while umpiring a 1:00pm game yeasterday:D

My older son is playing monday night and is looking forward to smashing one out of the park so he says.

Both of them are on honor roll at school and I could not be more proud of them !! Can’t wait for my 3 yr old to start T-ball in the fall.

update
I forgot that I got a few pics with my new phone. We went with a mardi-gras theme for our float since we could not think of anything to make with an " Oriole " theme. Thats my big red-haired knucklehead in the middle. Big,fast, and can hit it a mile. Great 3rd baseman

S.M.
