Short After Action report…

I only put about 200 rounds of XM193 thought it, but no hickups or issues… Can’t wait to shoot it again…

I was able to hit the metal gongs out to 200 yards with both the BUIS and the Red Dot… I really need to get it dialed in a lot better…

Over all… I like it… I really like it…

I can’t wait till I can get a Stamp, then order a proper Butstock for it… and a Surefire can I think…

I love those index clips.

Yea, I’ve tried several different "“Rail Covers” and I really like these…

I like how you can put them where ever you want them to fill in spots, I had some others I had to cut to fit, then your screwd when you wanna change something around…

Also like the way they feel. With or without the Handstops…

Nice looking weapon !!

Why aren’t you using the stock Geissele pins, they are very good.

Thats what I’m now hearing…

I had a set layin from my last build, when I bought like 3-4 sets for me and some friends so I figured I might as well use’em…

One of my other lowers has had them and an SSA trigger for a few years now with several thousand rounds and I’ve not noticed anything strange or out of place…

I have another lower inbound and I have a SSA trigger for it, I’m going to go with the regular SSA that the trigger comes with put them (the lowers) side by side and see if I can tell the difference…

Looking good!

larue buis ftw!

looks great!!! who does it shoot??

You should use the pins that came with the trigger…

From Bill Geissele himself:

DasRonin,

I didn’t see an email from you. It might have got hung up in my spam filter or something.

Here is the deal on non-rotating pins

Geissele SSA pins are 0.1550" dia +/-0.0001
Holes in the trigger can be 5 tenths over Geissele pin size
Kns pins are either .154 or .1555. So they are either too loose or just about a metal to metal fit in our triggers

Geissele pins are chrome-moly steel that is rough turned, rough ground, heat treated and then centerless finish ground. They are a quality pin.

Why do we not recommend KNS pins? One is that they are the wrong size. Can the smaller diameter pins work? Yes, but they are not the intended size and there can be a 'softer" break to the 2nd stage with them.

But the biggest reason is that the KNS pins are soft. Sometimes when they are installed they pull up a burr that causes havoc with trigger operation. I get calls from frustrated customers where they are totally disappointed in their SSA because it either feels terrible or it hangs up. I spend all kinds of time on the phone wracking my brain trying to figure out what is going on and trying to work the customer through the problem. Finally, I ask the customer to send the trigger in (which I hate to inconvenience the customer with) and the issue is that the KNS pins are jamming the trigger up.

Yes, our website is a total mess. We have a new one almost ready but I would rather spend time in the shop. We doubled our manufacturing floor space in Dec and am still getting everything set up. BTW - the company has a Facebook page if you guys want to check us out.

I hope this helps, guys. Don’t ever hesitate to contact me if questions come up.

I concur totally with Belmont. I replied with this in Mr. Smitty’s thread about his very nice custom build in this same sub forum a week or two ago:

I just ordered some Larue index clips for my rails. Very nice build.

Antirotation pins serve no purpose whatsoever for 99% of all AR shooters.

Just curious IG…what is the 1% where they do have a purpose? I’m guessing transferable F/A lowers where you want to do as much as possible to prevent wear and tear since there’s only a finite number?

IMO no. Simply because in my experience that doesn’t happen. I have seen lowers that were 20-30 years old and they were still 100%.

The small percent where I would say use them would be lower that had holes out of spec or some similar issue where changing out the lower wouldn’t be an option.

Otherwise I really can’t see a need for them.
