My new Baby

Greetings gents I’m new to this forum and wanted to throw out a hearty hello and thankyou for making me feel welcome. I wanted to share some pics of my latest M4gerie which I finished in August. DPMS lightweight 16", MIAD, CTR stock, Blueforce Tactica sling, Midwest Industries BUIS, Larue FUG and QR Aimpoint mount, Aimpoint Comp ML3, Midwest Industries Free Float(which really isn’t by the way) so here goes;

I forgot to mention that this thing weighs an amazing 7.14 lbs. unloaded according to my digital U.S. Postal scale!!!

Nice rifle.

Why don’t you think that the rail is floating?

It has to do with the attachment point near the front sight base. The way this rail is designed the front end of the rail is secured a round a “collet” so to speak which has a channel milled out of it to slide into place around the barrel. Unfortunately this channel will only permit barrel movement up or down(only slightly) therefore preventing any “true” free float movement of the barrel.

Good looking rifle. Congrats!

nice. any hangups during mag-changes with the VFG so far back?

None that I have run into so far but its a Larue FUG so its quick release and can be moved in seconds if I desire.

Very nice and welcome to the forum!:smiley:

That’s one sweet looking set up.

Yes Yes! …at least two of us here that own DPMS M4’s. You go Hugh! Nice rifle. I’ll post A pic of mine at the risk of crashing the server. Welcome.

Nice rig Charlie, I’m jealous of that one!

Very nice.

aside from the channel there, what part of the rail or collet is actually touching the barrel behind the FSB? or is there any part of the actual barrel touching the rail beyond the barrel nut?

Boltgun

It’s a snug fricition fit to be sure.
