My little green friend... AR SBR completed...

I’ve had this for a couple of years, but finally finished it up with the Aimpoint and AFG2.

It’s a 10.3" CMMG Upper on a Mega Lower, CMMG LPK, Magpul fanboy OD Green furniture, Aimpoint H-1 in Larue mount, 20-rd magazine with 5.56 MK318 Mod-0 62gr SOST ammunition, which the weapon loves after shooting a couple mags last weekend.

Next is getting a suppressor eventually, but that might be a ways off…

I like the looks of that…coming from a Magpul Foliage green fanboy:p

Nice looking build. How was the SBR process? I am looking at building a SBR in the near future.

It’s on a Form 1 via a Firearms trust, took about 3 months to approve back in late 2009. Pretty easy and the NFA branch was helpful with my questions.

Nice looking boom stick!

I like that a lot.

I wonder if I could have something like that in NY if I register it as a handgun.

I’m not an expert, but I believe you have to have a “pistol” lower and no buttstock, just a pistol extension.

I don’t know NY state NFA laws, or firearm laws in general, but if NFA / SBRs are a no-go, you could make one as a ‘pistol’, with only a pistol extention buffer tube (aka, no stock).

Or you could move to a free state for some NFA fun…

All you need is a stripped lower. Doesn’t need to be pistol or otherwise.

OP,

Unless my eyes deceive me, it would appear that the castle nut is installed backwards. Is there a reason for that? Also, it doesn’t appear to be staked.

You are correct, stupidity is the reason, more than likely.

Just corrected it, thanks for the observation - shouldn’t have ended up that way, but obviously I installed it incorrectly and it never bit me.

Cheers,

Rhino

Were you able to get a good staking on the nut?

I haven’t been able to get to the shop today, but I’ll get it done before I take it back to the range.
