Well guys here she is
Upgrades are…
1.DD7in Lite Rail
2.LMT SOPMOD
3.Troy rear folding Buis
4.Magpul Miad grip/Trigger Guard
5.KNS Pin Kit-sorry demigod couldn’t help my self had to get them.
6.Smith Vortex Flash Hider
I hate them than he does… More like a downgrade than an upgrade.
Why you would want to take a nearly MIL-SPEC gun an undo it, is unknown to me. Might as well loosen up your gas key, and scrape the parkerizing off from under the FSB, which you can also swap out to non-F version…
Using KNS pins are hardly in the same boat as loosening the gas key, the park, or non-F FSB. Thats getting a little carried away.
It appears to be a very functional 6920, and a nice selection of upgrades. The KNS pins are subjective the way I look at it, if you like them, thats what counts.
I was hoping someone actually had a “technical” reason why I’m wrong for putting KNS kits on Both of my brand new 6920’s prior to shooting them…Anyone?
I do not know if they are weaker or stronger, as I have not seen any tests one way or the other. The gen1 pins seem to have been weaker, given how often they broke.
The pins are designed to rotate, the kns design prevents that, causing unintended consequences.
They anti-walk device prevents the operator from knowing when the pins break, thus increasing the possibility of egging of the receiver holes.
Basically a solution to a problem that does not exist, that also increases risk of damage.
One should always thoroughly think out the ramifications of swapping out a MILSPEC part(s) for a NON-MILSPEC part(s) that are critical to the function of the weapon, and to its long term reliability. However, the aftermarket marketing effort is very strong, and lots of folks get caught up adding bling to a weapon without a functional need, or analysis of the consequences.
Can I ask why you went with the DD lite rail rather than the Omega?
Anyways congrats- I decked out my 1st 6920- working on the 2nd when I get back State-side.
i wouldnt say this is true, miad is an upgrade from stock grips just for the abilitiy to have different plugs imo. i’ve got the backstrap that dosent change the size, and i have the front strap that adds the trigger guard enhancement. i also got a bolt/firing pin plug so i could have a spare on my weapon in case of failure.
It looks pretty good to me! Of course, I like the standard M4 stock (I know, I know, I am old fashioned!) and have never bothered to replace the standard grip, although the finger groove is just awful. I have been thinking about one of the wango tango grips or whatever. But that Miad looks nice! Nice looking poodle shooter!
I would like to know WHOs KNS pins have actually broken, and torn up a receiver? I think you will know when your trigger and hammer pins break, whether they are KNS or stock pins.
KNS Gen II pins (which is what the original poster has pictured in his Colt), are stronger than the GEN I pins, and I have never heard of any documented account of them breaking. As stated, I’ve never heard of GEN I pins breaking, but that’s not to say they haven’t. I have complete faith in the GEN II pins, after many rounds downrange using them.
Let’s see some documented accounts of KNS pins breaking, and go from there. Better yet, let’s see some documented accounts of KNS GEN II pins breaking, and take it from there.
I like the idea of my pins not rotating, and although it’s NOT an issue, I would rather risk breaking a Gen II pin, than risk my receiver pin holes wearing/enlargening.
Anyone care to comment here?
It’s one of those ‘what if’ situations which I don’t give any merit. You won’t find many (if any) documented accounts because it’s simply not a problem.
But really it just boils down to possibilities vs. probabilities. It’s possible that the KNS pins might break, just not very probable.
