This is my friend and fellow officer. He was a ball of fire on the streets and had the best sense of humor that anyone could ask for. I will miss you greatly along with the officers and citizens of Lexington.
He was ran down by a subject in a SUV while he was investigating a noise complaint. The driver, under the influence of narcotics fled the scene and was eventually pulled out of his apartment after a lengthy fight with our ERU Team. Several of the ERU members had bleach thrown on them and one was cut with a knife the suspect presented.
I am at a lost for words to describe how beautiful it was. Too see how many people that came out to pay respect for him simply took your breath away and brought tears to your eyes. For anyone that hasn’t seen or participated in a LEO funeral should watch this very humbling video. The flag on his casket was flying over the capital the night he went down.
I was hoping you, or anyone else here from the area could keep us up to date on the suspect and his upcoming trial. I hope he never gets to walk free again.
I am very sorry to hear this, I hadn’t heard in the news (I am an Kentucky resident as well). This is a horrendous occurrence and you & your team have my condolences.
Law enforcement has to deal with some true scum, and then do so with judicious restraint. Quite a task…
Bad guy had a record a mile along including some mental illness. Several Assault 3rds (Police Officer), Rape, Prostitution, Fleeing and Evading the Police etc. His Father even mentioned that he needs to be in a institution and not out on the streets.
Sorry for your loss, brother. Officer Durman looks like a great kid that had a bright future ahead of him. 6 Years USAF, and 2.5 years with LPD. He leaves behind a wife and 4 year old daughter. Peace be with him, his department and his family.
Utah burried one it’s horeos today too. Sgt. Franco Aguilar served 6 years in the USMC and was a LEO since 2000. He leaves behind his wife and 5 children.
Thanks all for your kind comments. I am glad to post this not only in memory of him but as a reminder to all that life is too short. I think this is going to be a rough year for law enforcement. People are just getting more and more stupid for some reason.
I never met Bryan, but heard nothing but exceptional things from officers on the force with him. The processional was certainly something special to watch after the service and god willing we won’t have to see another one for a very long time.
From everything I have heard the ERU team used exceptional discipline and restraint bringing this piece of crap in.
My thoughts and prayers are with Officer Durman & his family.
