Very nice! I have the MI-SS gen 2 handguard on one of my rifles and love it. It has held up well on cross country run n gun events so far. I really like the light weight, and the narrow profile is very comfortable.
However, I gotta say I prefer to have the front sight attached to the barrel, especially if it is the primary sighting system and not just a backup. I run free floats, but I keep the factory fixed front on all mine. I don’t like the idea of the front sight floating independently of the barreled action.
I have not seen colored mags. I did a rattle can job on the M3 PMAGs to match the rail and stock. The color os OD, The color does not show up true in the photo.
Nice build. I like the feel of a fixed stock too, in the same boat with ya on the length. I prefer the KISS method and now you have me thinking about trying a carbine gas with an A2 rear end.
I did the same thing for a few of my rifles (I’m 5’10"). Their stocks also allow the rear sling loop to rotate almost 180 degrees to put it on the left or right side. Build looks good, btw.
It feels a lot better for me. I can keep my elbow tucked in well with the more vertical grip angle. The grip is also fatter and just feels right. Price was great also!
Affter shooting awhile with A2 stock I’m going to change this out to a Vltor A5. The A2 has great balance and softens the carbine gas system but is just about 1 inch too long for my frame. I’m hoping the A5 buffer system will match the A2 buffer feel.
looks great … way better than alot of the boutique guns you see on here … grab an A1 stock and a Tubbs flatwire recoil spring GTG .
great build you have there.
cheers !
I was too tempted not to put on a Micro Dot sight. Primary Arms MD-06 on a QD mount for 1/3 co-witness on sale for $79. Holy crap this is a steal for a decent sight and mount combo. They must have fixed the QD problem because my adjusts and works like it should. Also added a MOE VFG which aids in handling significantly. I promise I will stop here…maybe. OK an good weapons light and I’m done, I swear on it.
Get a light that can be activated momentarily. Practice and train with using it momentarily - it’s possible to gain a TON of information in a short amount of time, and really hard for an adversary to fix your position with one blink-on.
That complete carbine is coming along really nicely -
