My first build...

So I’ve been around long enough to know how most of you guys feel about RRA… But, I’m still proud of my first AR effort, especially since after half a case of ammo I’m still at zero failures.

Started off with one of RRA’s rifle kits(everything except the stripped lower) and a stripped lower. Replaced ALOT of those parts(yes in retrospect I shouldn’t have built it this way) with better quality parts. So as she is today:
RRA rifle kit + lower
ARMS 40L rear sight
Magpul CTR
ikickhippies end plate (staked)
Magpul MOE grip, trigger guard & hand guards
BlueForceGear padded sling
Surefire G2LED in VLTØR mount on ERGO rail.
BCM extractor spring upgrade
and I staked the gas key properly(since it wasn’t done).

So I’m done with this rifle, except for maybe an optic at some point. I honestly don’t have any complaints with it, and really enjoy shooting it.
I’m currently collecting parts for two more, a POF & VLTØR 6.8 build and a Noveske SBR build.

Looks great. That is pretty much the look of my first build when complete. Glad to see it looks just as good in real life as it did in my head. lol

Congrats and I look forward to seeing you next builds.

thats a sweet build!

Nice lookin’ machine! Clean and simple… I like it.

How do you like the Magpul handguards after half a case (or more)? I’ve heard only limited feedback but some said they’re solid and great… some said they’re loose and not-so-great.

I dig your style

All of you who own a RRA and DPMS , OLY come on these sites and beat yourself up need to stop. Be proud of what you own. If it shoots good and you like the idea that you didn’t spend a couple of thousand JUST for the rifle, then go and have a good time with it . I own a COLT and a RRA and a Heinz 57 SPR. I keep all of them clean well oiled and have no ammo issues with anything I feed them. 90% of all rifle problems are due to operator faults. Out of the twenty years i spent working for the military I saw my share of weapons failures, most were due to owner maintenance, mainly to dirty and fouled up bolts and uppers, not parts failure. True people run across a bad rifle of all makes, but for the most part we of common sense do clean and lube and shoot the s@*t out of them with NO problems. By the way NICE weapon, go have fun with it and don’t worry what anyone else thinks.

Patriot

agreed. these are very capable mil-spec guns. they will last most range shooters a long time, and put up with some beatings and carbine classes. if anything brakes you dont throw the gun away, you replace the part. no big deal. if you are using the gun for a job to protect your life, thats a different story.

I would be a bit more careful tossing that term around. Just sayin’.

kdc, nice job.

I tried mounting a G2 in that location and found it took up too much real-estate on the handguards. You might try an MCTAR-01 or 04 from Midwest Industries. Let’s you get the light a little bit further forward and out of the way.

If I was doing this today I would have slid the light even further forward on a non-SBR.

Thanks everyone. And I am pretty proud of this one, nothing disappointing here

They were a little loose upon installation, but a piece of electric tape where they meet the delta ring and they’re solid. Very happy with these and a big improvement over originals.
