Hi All!
Here is my first build.
Noveske 14.5 afghan
Vltor VC1 flash suppressor
Vltor MUR 1A
Larue 12" rail
Tactical Inovations Lower
Magpul MIAD and ladders
LMT BCG
LMT BUIS
Geissele SSA Trigger
RRA LPK
RRA A2 stock
LaRue Sling
GG&G Sling adapter
ADCO pinned the flash suppressor, parkerized the barrel, and assembled the upper. I got the upper parts and was going to do it myself. But after an email conversation with Dave about it, and the pinned barrel, and my lack of tools, I figured it would be better to let the Pro’s do it. Dave and Steve at ADCO are awesome. They steered me right. I am very happy with the upper.
The LaRue guys were cool with all of my questions, and I really like the rail and the sling. Very good customer service over there.
I assembled the lower. I launched the same detent three-3-tres times. I almost got terminally stuck putting in the trigger, dinged the right side of the reciever a couple three times. I painted the stock and a mag in AlumahydeII Coyote. That went OK. I finished the rifle yesterday and took it out today. Far freakin out! It shoots like I thought it would. It shoots better than I do. I am very very happy with it. The only things left to do on it is to get the rest of the rail covered with the ladders, it gets Hot. Try out a VFG. Get an EoTech.
I really like the rifle. It is better than the Colt HBAR I had. Thanks also to all of the M4C dudes who answered my noob questions. Here are sonme bad pictures.

Nice looking build. ADCO does great work.
Is there any reason you went with the fixed stock? Are you in a ban state?
Thank you Sir!
No ban state. I just like it for a couple three reasons.
I’ve always had an irrational fear of the collapsable stock breaking.
I trained with it that way in the military.
I like having a cleaning kit in it.
Less than lethal alternative. A long time ago, I was standing watch on a restricted area with a loaded M14. I had a “Person” try to enter the area. He knew I probably wasn’t going to shoot him, and I probably wasn’t. That would have been so bad on so many levels, and he knew it. So after he said his thing and was getting ready to try me, I told him I was going to come over and crush his effing skull with this here rifle. He did believe I was going to do that, probably because, I was going to do that. I guess that put the fear in him and he tried to leave then.
Nothing too rational, but it works for me. In a future build, I want to build a lightweight SBR. I’ll try out the collapsable stocks then.
i love that sr-16 look! nice rifle!
Looks sweet! How is the balance? I would think the heavier stock would do a good job of bringing the balance point towards the center of the rifle. I just might try it with one of mine, I have several new A2 stocks handy.
That is a nice looking rifle! I actually like the fixed stock. Next one i build will have one!
Thanks for the compliments all!
The rifle balances nice for me. It is better than the HBAR I had, the HBAR had a longer barrel though.
The one thing that didn’t really exist back in the day, was the sling and the sling attachment points. If we wanted that kind of setup, we had to go to US Cav outside the main gate and get the system that hung off of the front sight and wrapped around the stock. It rattled on the front sight base and wore on it. I would never put that on my personal rifle.
The sling setup on this rifle is a dream. That makes handling and shooting easy and quick. It is something I thought of many years ago, but never followed up on. When I talked to the LaRue dude, I had some requirements that I wished were met. Padded, quick detach, very adjustable, and a pull that would tighten it up so I could have the weapon barrel down “guitar style” on my back, but be able to pull the tab and it would go back to the normal length. The added bonus that I had no idea of was that the attachment points are closer together, that makes it so much more manuverable at every angle. No more wrapping my left hand inside the sling, no more sight wearing rattling, taped up crap up front, no more shoulder “sling arms” kind of crap.
Sorry about the rambling. I’ve been out of shooting for a long time. The technolgy has changed a lot. You’d think it would be the big things that make the biggest personal impact, but for me, the things I noticed first was the “ergonomics”. You guys have been around it for a long time, so it isn’t new to you.
Barrel length and sling. Whoda thunk it? Like one of the well known dudes on this board said, and I’m paraphrasing, “I’ll never own an AR thats over 16"”, count me in the same boat.
Thanks,
Orvis
