My first build and intro

New guy here from Iowa I’m an avid target shooter I try to shoot everyweekend even if it is with my .22 and have been practicing At 400yds with my varmint rig(ruger M77V in 22-250 with a leupold 6.5-20x40mm scope) I used to shoot trap with my pops when I was younger and got out of that and into building AK’s for the last couple of years I’ve been building AK’s and finally I’m content withy collection after finishing a Russian milled type III now it’s time to add an AR to the stable so I recently traded a pistol that I rarely shot for a Superior Arms complete lower with a 6 position stock and then traded my old gun cabinet for a stripped DPMS flat top upper with M4 cuts and that’s where I’m at currently

I’ve been looking at barrels and I’m gonna go with a 16" barrel with a mid length gas system with a quad rail and either a railed gas block or one with a flip up front sight and a BUiS I’m mixed up between a fixed 4x scope or a reddot as my primary optic at the moment since I plan on eventually getting a NV scope for night critter control on the family farm but I’m leaning towards a reddot

I just ordered a BCM forward assist and ejection port assembly and I’m going to go with their BCG hopefully I’ll beable to order that in the next few weeks

LOOKIN GOOD !!:big_boss:

sounds like you have a plan !

i know your already thinkin of another build.:sarcastic:

you’ll be just like me’ havent even finished the 604’ yet…
and trolling www.retroblackrife.com

yep’ another build in the back of me mind .

peabody

Yea there may be another build in the future I’ve thought about building a rig for my wife next she’s great with an ak but spectacular with an AR she out shot my buddy with his DPMS panther never shooting an AR before

Well, you’re off to a good start. I’m not sure how much money you plan on spending on your barrel, or what purpose you want it to serve, but you may want to look at Rainier Arms Select barrels to save quite a bit of cash and still get a great barrel.

Thanks for that link I’ve been looking at the del-ton barrels and was given a link for Jsesurplus they both had good deals on barrels but the more options the better I’m figuring around $200 for my barrel assembly minus the quad rail right now give or take depending on what I find

Good start. Save up a little more for the barrel and buy a bcm, woa, centurion, DD, or noveske

I think you’ll find that a Rainier barrel will blow anything made by Del-Ton out of the water.

Yeah. I’d get the Rainier barrel and a 10-12" rail to go over a low profile gas block. You’re off to a good start.

I may go with a low profile gas block I’m still researching different options I’ve considered getting a quad rail that extends to right before the flash hider so I can get the longest sight radius possible with a 16" barrel who knows I may end up changing my mind and go with a 14.5" M4 BBl with a pinned 1.5" FH but I have some time to change my mind lol

What about black hole weaponry barrels?

I just found this:
http://www.blackholeweaponry.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=60

Never heard of them until now. There is very little info on those barrels. I did notice they were pretty cheap, which is why you may have been interested in them? Stick with the barrels above. Save up another $100 or so.

I found some good reviews on this very forum and some other forums about those barrels after a google search

I’m not trying to make a precision rig out of this rifle I’ve got my 22-250 for that I just want something different to take to the range every once in a while and possibly take care of varmints on the family farm and due to the terrain puts me at a max distance of 400yds

I just can’t justify buying a barrel that cost more than the rest of the rifle combined for a plinker

Ambi welcome to M4C… Looks like you have a good start. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out for you in the end.

Yea I just found a complete charging handle on another forum for $5 shipped I think I’m gonna wait till BCM has more mid length 16" barrels in stock and get one of those since I’m already set on getting the complete BCM BCG
