On the way is a Magpul ASAP, a piece of the ERGO polymer rail, a VTAC light mount and a Surefire G2 and I’m pretty much gonna call this carbine done for now. I’m going to save up for mags, ammo and training and once those three are taken care off I’ll look into an Aimpoint I think…
I’ve got 100 rounds and I plan to get it out to the range in the next week or so to shoot…
Also, I gotta give big props to Rider79 for all the help (he sold me the upper, BCG and CH for a good price).
Nice looking weapon. I also use an Essential Arms lower. Fits nice and tight with my Larue upper.
I think an Aimpoint Micro T1 would look badass on there!!
I’m sure it would, but I’m thinking something older like a CompM2 or the like, to save some cash…

Thanks, I’m not real up on Aimpoint model numbers, I just knew 2 was a couple gens back.
I use an Aimpoint ML2.
the difference between aimpoint M2 and ML2 is that ML2 has no night vision capability. both models will have approx 10,000 hours battery life or 1year
if you go M3 or ML3 battery life goes up to 50k hours or five years. otherwise both looks the same except the 3 series has a rubber jacket
the m4 series looks different but uses AA battery and it lasts 8 years! but is 700 dollars!
Very well executed KISS rifle. Nice to hear you’re going to shoot it some before decking it out with optics that you may or may not need.
I personally run Aimpoints in Larue mounts and they will serve you well for many many years. I use the M3 with the Cantilever mounts.
I am lusting after a T1 though…
Aimpoint C3 is the choice to make. It’s identical to my ML3 besides the water dept.
You can find them for under 400.00. I got a C3 for 373.00 was supposed to get a free G2 light with it but that didnt show up. I got a ML3 from Rainier for 399.00 also. No difference besides the water dept as far as I can see. The ML3 does come with flip up covers but they’re not clear.
or you can get your aimpoint from larue tactical. they have a combo mount+optics. save a few bucks.
Range Report:
I was able to run about 90 rounds through it today. Smooth as silk and sighted in just fine at 50 yards. Easily the most enjoyable rifle I’ve shot.
Had my Ergo Polymer rail and VTAC mount waiting when I got home. This rifle now sports a Surefire G2.
Quick question… I have fired a friends AR before (a RRA M4 style) and it made the loudest “SPROING” noise every time I fired it and my rifle does not make that type of noise at all. Is that indicative of a problem in either rifle? I guess it could come down to the differences in our rifles (mil-spec vs. Commercial tube, standard vs. h-buffer, etc.)

As a completely unqualified opinion (it’s my first AR and my first rifle with peep sights) it seemed to work really well. I only fired around 90 rounds as I mentioned, but it zero’d easily, held zero and stayed tight. I haven’t really ridden it hard yet though. It deploys easily (though since I currently am not running an optic it stays up mostly) and it seems really sturdy/well built.

I have an ML2 on one of my ARs and a C3 on another. I did purchase the rubber cover for the C3. The C3 can be submerged to 10 feet and that is good enough for me. I really like the C3 for the battery life and 2 moa dot. Up close I really can’t tell the difference between the C3’s 2 moa dot and the ML2’s 4 moa dot, but I can at distance.

After research I think I will go with the C3, probably from Grant, taking advantage of one of his mount packages. I’ve got a side job that should pay enough extra to cover it. Of course I’m looking for a deal on something used while I’m waiting on the invoice to be paid.
How does the Essential lower finish look? How does it match with the BCM upper?
I’m planning on another lower, but want something that will have a better finish and match my upper better than my Stag lower.
