I just wanted to share this since this forum and a couple others were instrumental in helping me decide which AK I wanted to get. I have been into ARs for a while and I have determined, if something is worth doing, then it is worth doing right, and I figured it carries over to the AK platform as well.
So I finally decided that I spend the extra money and get an Arsenal. That being said, I found one locally for a pretty awesome deal and I feel like I came out pretty well ahead of the game.
It’s an Arsenal SGL-21 and it is everything (minus one piece of Tapco furniture that I already have a replacement part for ordered) that I could have asked for and then some.
My pictures aren’t the magazine worthy shots that some of y’all are capable of so for that I apologize.
My first non-.22 rifle was a Century SAR-1. Almost ruined me for AKs with how bad the trigger slap was, despite all I did to fix it.
Got good with it, despite its 12MOA “accuracy” and the swollen finger I’d have after four magazines, and have been strongly considering getting into the AK game again myself.
Try an SGL21 next time. I have the 20 and 21 myself. I can put all my shots on a paper target slightly bigger than notebook paper at 200 yards from a rest. This is with irons so I would say the rifle can group better with some good optics.
Mine was an SLR106, and I never regretted it, still have it… My Lancaster was nice, too, but sadly I traded it for something else. Looking at the “Legion” now. Can’t go wrong with Arsenal!
I actually have some waffle mags on order along with the new lower handguard. I really like the way those look and from all reports, they perform flawlessly so I am excited to get that stuff in. UPS says Monday, so fingers crossed.
