my FIRST actual build...

I bought my first ar15 back in 2007 from a good friend of mine. it was a smith and wesson mp15t. it was a really nice rifle and the only thing i bought for it was a eotech. i later sold the rifle because i didnt shoot it enough, mistake number 1.

The next rifle i bought was a daniel Defense ddm4; tactical out the box. Right away i yanked the rail and sights, threw on YHM flip up sights with xs csat stuff and a moe handguard. then added a magpul asap plate, micro h-1 with ADS mount and ran it with a ms2 sling. i carried it around in an under armor baseball bat bag. sold it to a good buddy of mine.

This is my first rifle that i am actually building from the ground up. i work at a shooting range, but most of my distributors are out of stock on everything, actually the only thing i was able to get from our distributor was the troy sights. so everything was bought through either bravocompanyusa, rainierarms, or brownells.

thousands of dollars later, im still not done.

i started with the upper since all those parts came in first minus my PWS 556 fsc and pri charging handle. i wanted a bcmgunfighter but they’re OOS.

like i said, most parts are from the above mentioned websites. i requested promotional gear from bravo company since i work at a range, so they sent me extra goodies, i guess its called shwag?

i went out and bought a vise, air compressor, misc other tools and borrowed some from my friend. then got started on the upper.

i got the upper on the vise and got to installing the BCM 16" CHF bbl. followed the instructions that came with the larue tactical 11in rail and got that setup too (the brownells action block didnt have to be modified). i installed the midlength gas tube and larue lowpro gas block, then i got the rail on and tightened.

then i put on the troy battle sights. i wish they had some fancy logo on the front, but instead they just say troy blah blah blah. i like how larue’s sights have texas on em. oh well.

upper is finished for now. still missing the pws comp and pri CH. total time, 1hr.

Still waiting on my lower from rainierarms. its been over a week and nothing. :frowning: hopefully it’ll come in soon so i can get this rifle complete in time for the houston magpul dynamics carbine class.

expect the same type of post for the lower. thanks for checking it out.

looks like it’s the beginning of a beautiful friendshiop =)

so i know i promised a detailed posting of the lower build but i couldnt help myself today. This morning i checked my email and checked the status on my package and noticed it was coming in today, so i threw parts in a bag and off to work i went. when it came in, i spent about an hr putting it together. the front takedown pin detent went flying but with the help of a friend, i found it and was back in action. few extra set of hands and i was done. i still need to stake the castle nut but i put a very generous amount of locktite so it shouldnt be a problem (last rifle, the nut walked on me).

i have all the normal magpul stuff, their stuff is great i tell ya.

seekins precision lower
dpms LPK
BCM auto BCG
BCM HF 16" bbl (midlength)
Larue 11" rail
PWS fsc 556

i think i’ll call her roxanne.

Great job man! Crazy lookin lower, but nice set up.

very cool

thanks. i shot a few rounds out of it today and i must say you can notice the difference between midlength and carbine. hopefully i’ll get a 50 yrd zero on it soon and run the irons for a few more weeks before i throw on a aimpoint micro.

still need to get low profile rail covers and a light.
