My CZ P10C 7 years and 25k rounds later. A few thoughts

I did the math a few months ago and realized I’m conservatively over 25k rounds on my original P10C I purchased on Black Friday in 2018. At the time I placed my Glock 19 Gen3 that I had modified to try and resemble a Roland Special but honestly the homemade grip texturing and my “gunsmith” buddy’s trigger job just left me wanting to go back to a stock Glock, but all the reviews of the P10C that came out when the gun released had me thinking I should try one. That and the fact that it looked like it utilized the same Glock 19 holsters was also a plus as I had 3 or 4 different ones for my Glock.

My math as far as round count is as follows: I started out relatively quickly with 9 magazines (5 17round, 4 15 round) with 2 more 15rd that were basically only utilized for carry ammo (these were cycled through the range line up about every year) so that leaves me with 145 rounds per range trip.

145 x the 2 times on average a month I go shooting, times 12 months = 3480rds times the 7 years of ownership equals 24,360 rounds. This plus the following classes I have taken with the P10c; Reston Tactical Group 2 day Carbine/Pistol, 2 Vortex Edge Pistol 1 and 2 classes, Performance On Demand Shooting (Pete and Adrian at Vortex), and Citadel Defense Carbine/Pistol probably puts me at few more thousand however, I am being slightly conservative with my estimate.

I’m slightly proud of the P10C as I don’t see any reviews of round counts after 10k on the P10C and because I believe I can count the failures to fire with it on one hand that were not ammo related, most of those were because I ran strings of 3-4k+ rounds without the slightest cleaning and that once a basic cleaning was done, the pistol continued to run flawlessly. I did have several issues with certain lots of Winchester white box 115gr, and Aguila 115gr especially over the covid years when there was a rush on guns and ammo but have shot several thousand rounds of White Box 115’s through it since with no issues.

So I can go over the fit and finish, shootablity, accuracy, and so on but I feel like Mrgunsandgear or someone else on Youtube has no doubt done it better than I would, I would just say that I am extremely impressed with this gun for the money and have now purchased the P10c Ported, I don’t plan on replacing this thing anytime soon.

No pics of the alleged pistol?

They’re on flckr, but apparently that’s blocked by my work computer now, I’ll have to post some when I get home. I can only imagine that the Gen Z girls upstairs in customer service have lost me many a work privilege

I can only get pics on here with the upload option. The old IMG] codes don’t work. So annoying.

A few years ago a friend gave me a CZP10f competition, what a great pistol.

Cool report. These were insanely cheap a couple years ago, too. I ended up trading a brand new one for some workout gear I wanted.

Spend a bit of cash and replace recoil spring and mag springs, cleaning out the mags at the same time. For about $100 @ wolff or czusa you’ll be ready for the next 25K rounds.

Been on a respringing campaign recently with a 3rd Gen Smith, couple 60-80’s Hi-Power and early 2000 Springfield custom shop 1911’s picked up in the last few months. Usually hit up Wolff as they include everything but YMMV. They’re all essentially new with cleaning and a new set of springs.

So the middle P10C is the the one with 25k on it. The Ruger RXM was going to be a replacement and is currently a truck gun or supplemental carry, however I purchased the P10C Ported a few months ago and that will probably be my main go to from here on out, I’ve got a 507c I’ll put on it and grab another Surefire x300, thinking about the turbo.

I should also mention that my main complaints about ownership after all this time has been aftermarket support, it was great for about 2 years after first coming out but now that I’m thinking about upgrading or modifying it to be more of a tactical competition pistol I really cannot find many options. This is why I purchased the P10C Ported, it gives me everything I really want for only $435.

I really don’t dabble much in modifying pistols, I remember a James Yaeger post where he was talking about Judges and Jury’s going after people with modified pistols, and while that was probably true in 2012 when he said it, I don’t know if that’s true now. I still cannot justify a 2011 or certain race pistols for a $3500+, but I am on the 5k rounds a year regimen for carry and would like something nicer to shoot while I’m on the range.

In 2017 I had two of them. They both had the awful ambi mag release that was brutal. I was living in Northern Virginia, and I wish I could say that mine were the exception, but EVERY P10C I came in contact with had the same stiff ambi mag release. It really took away from a gun that had a great price point, combined with great ergos, reliability, and arguably one of the best out of the box triggers on a striker fired gun at the time. I’m glad that CZ listened and in 2019 switched to a reversible mag release.

Appreciate the report. The P10C is a solid gun, I think CZ USA does a poor job marketing to law enforcement. I get that Glock is the go to, but seriously, with all of the pluses of the P10C, and the price point there’s no reason it shouldn’t be in more police holsters of major agencies, and perhaps alleviating some of the aftermarket support that seems lacking.

I paid $200 for a used P10C..I upgraded the sights to Dawson fiber optic. The trigger is very good stock, but the grip texture is a little rough. They fit my Glock holsters with no problem, they are definitely a good value and a decent gun.

Jumping for a ride in the WayBack Machine, Didn’t CZ make a ton of Charles Daley products?
