My son is 6 years old and he loves to shoot. I’m holding the MVG against the table to help him “barricade” and suck up some of the recoil. we’re still working on getting the finger out of the trigger guard between strings of fire. His head is so small that he seems to sight with his left eye but he shoots with both eyes open and prefers magnified optics over dot sights like this T1.
the carbine is a first gen DDM4v1 with over 15,000 rounds through it. It runs a T1, moe k2, MVG, Inforce WML, KAC covers/larue index clips and an H3 buffer.
He choose the song. It’s been his favorite for nearly two years.
My oldest is about to be four. I’ve been waiting for when I can’t take him out. I got my first BB gun at 7
I think my son’s first will be a ruger 10/22 or something.
Was your boy aiming on his own? When did you first take him out?
This is him a little more than 3 years ago (he was three). that is my old falling block .22lr (his now) he also has a Winchester model 67 youth rifle. I taught both my children to shoot with single shot rifles in an effort to slow them down and make them focus on aiming.
the second picture is from maybe 6 months earlier.
the last one is of my daughter when she was about 6. she enjoys it but not nearly as much as my son.
they he do all their own aiming, but i stay hands on and help with the recoil when he shoots center fire rifles, she is now ok with most smaller calibers recoil impulses.
