It seems that the majority of people are getting perm-attached muzzle brakes such as the FSC556 or Battle Comp on their 14.5" BCM Mid-lengths.
Do you all feel that a brake is necessary on this barrel/gas length combination? Is the recoil much more than a 16" Mid-length?
Just wondering how big of a different these brakes make compared to a FH, such as an A2 or a Vortex.
I realize that a FH is different from a brake, but just wondering about peoples’ experience/opinions…
I think it has more to do with the options BCM offers from the factory. The only perm attached FH is their A2X hider, which i would have gone with if i didnt live in NY. The fsc556 works as a comp, but had the battle comp been out at the time i would have went that route instead.

It depends on what you are looking for.
It’s like choosing between a truck and an SUV.
I run Battle Comp’s and love them. I think they keep the rifle flat shooting when you run them quickly. You don’t get that with an A2 flash hider.

That’s a very soft-shooting setup anyway.
I am not a huge brake an on 5.56.
Run whatever device you like.
