Muzzel breaks/Comps

which comp is quietest?

I took a class in AZ recently where I shot my 16in carb w/a SF556 comp/mb on it.
Using old PMC 223 55grFMJ, I would get a huge flash sometimes and most often not, maybe flash noticeable to me one in 10 rds fired. However to other shooters on line, flash was more frequent and “overpressure” was pronounced. When I switched to some fed xm193, no flash and no complaints from others.
Friend videoed me on line, and you can see the flame often. WX was bright, cool not overcast. …So why does the flash not occur uniformly with same lot of ammo?
Thanks.

so far i have to go with the Dntc comps from PWS

I really enjoy the ones i have…

USPSA’s Front Sight magazine had an article a few months ago where someone built a jig to measure performance of different popular and obscure muzzle brakes. He tried to measure muzzle rise seperate from rearward recoil. The net result was the Jerry Miculek design fared very well. I have the Dave Neth and am pleased with it.

There is not a direct link for that article on the USPSA site. See if you can find someone with the magazine. You can find lots of opinions at Brian Enos’ site with a search about muzzle brakes here:

Fixed it for you…
