I have a friend that just bought a BCM lower and is putting on a SBA brace to make it a pistol. Can you do that or do you have to buy it as a pistol lower?
If it is a pistol lower, can you put a barricade brace on it? Or is that like a VFG? and a no no ?
How heavy would a Surefire RC2 7.62 can feel on a 11.5 BCM? I would think hefty to me but want others thoughts.
Would you just stamp it and say Eff it? Or try the pistol route?

Take this with a grain, but my understanding is that as long as the lower has never had an upper put onto it (meaning, not sold as a complete rifle or assembled into one) at the same time as a stock, you can rip the telestock off, slap an SBA3 or SBA4 on and you’re ready to rock. Until they ram the “rules change” through anyway… generally it’s recommended that you add length-of-pull limiters to match how the SB A-kit tube has position 6 either blocked or completely unmachined.
If the lower was sold as a rifle, it will still be a rifle even with the brace. If used with the 11.5" it would be a SBR. If it were me, I’d just save the rifle lower for future use and buy a braced pistol lower.
A lower is not supposed to be sold as a rifle. This is why you cannot buy one at age 18. There are multiple threads on the subject. Here’s a quote from the first one search turned up.

^^^This. It is an “other”. Transferred onto their books from BCM as such and out the door as such. Only way it would be a “rifle” would e if the LGS received it from BCM as a rifle and then split it up and sold it separately.
IIRC the standard receiver extension meets the LOP requirement, the VLTOR A5 type are the ones that are too long. But at this point in history how much these petty “rule” interpretations matter is going to be debatable, IMO worrying about coloring a little outside the ATF imposed lines is a waste of time.
