Man these pics look awesome. I like the the more faded do it your self look personally…
I really wish I knew how to lay cammo patterns…I don’t have problems painting stuff with spray cans, my projects usually come out good, but the pattern looks hard to lay up…
Maybe I’ll look into some videos on how to mask things off…
The only thing I did was degrease and then rub down the surfaces with rubbing alcohol. Didn’t scuff, etch, prime, or anything.
I’m sure if someone put in more prep time, they’d get a more durable result, but when you’re just working with Krylon, you can’t expect miracles anyway. If it wears off, I touch it up: no big deal.
I also started with FDE furniture so that if the paint scuffs off the plastic in places, it just exposes more FDE color instead of stark black streaks.
I don’t know. I sure as heck wouldn’t want to try! There are a lot of little areas (especially on a FF rail system) that would take forever to strip again.
Just to be safe, I think you should consider it a “commitment” before you hit the weapon with paint.
This may very well prolong the life of the paint job (I don’t know), but I didn’t do this to mine and adhesion was no problem.
No, front sight is now gone but while it was on there no noticible obstruction. The rifle sported HK’s front and rear before the 1-4X was mounted. Right now there are no irons on it. Just a Fastfire II as a B/U / close range optic. I need to take some new pictures.
