Multi-caliber Suppressor?

I am thinking about getting a suppressor (TBAC 30P-1 since they are just a few miles from me) and have a question. I did a search, but am not sure how to frame it–anyway it led me nowhere.

I would like to use it on my AR-15s and maybe a .308. To do that I need a thread adapter to go from the 1/2" threads of the ARs to 5/8x24 of the larger calibers. Does anybody make one? If not TBAC makes a QD version, but the adapters are $135 each and I am not sure about poi change with/without.

Also, I understand a 30 caliber suppressor will not be as effective on a 5.56 as a dedicated one, but how effective are they? If I can make do with one suppressor it will save me over $1k.

Feel free to answer by providing links.

Thanks,
Hal

If it were me, I would go with qd attachments if using more than one host. It is a little more expensive but less hassle. I am not sure about how hard, or easy, cross threading would be but it is always something that is in the back of my mind when screw something on. Also, although I am not familiar with the particular can you are wanting, there shouldn’t be a lot of change in performance because a .308 can will be longer and larger in diameter. You may lose a few decibels but it would probably not be discernable to you. However, you would lose the compactness and decrease weight that a dedicated can would give you.

Since the can threads on to the brake, I don’t see how it will make any potential POI shift worse than just screwing it onto a bare muzzle.

As the previous poster said, I don’t thing you’ll experice a huge degredation in performance using a .308 can on a .223.

As for your shooting, is any rapid fire possible? Short barrels in the future? The reason I ask is, as you proably know, the can you are looking at is titanium and that does not hold up well to the high heat generated by rapid fire. Just something to think about.

Thanks LTM. I used 1/2x28 and 5/8x24 in an orange button search and got nothing useful.
That adapter will save me many bucks.

i actually called thunderbeast with this exact question a couple months ago. he recommended against using the 30p-1 or the 30ba on my 5.56 due to heat issues of rapid/high rate fire on a titanium can especially in my case since it would be used on my sbr.

he did however say that they are working on a steel version that could be used easier across both platforms without those problems

Mike, I have 16" and 20" barrels and don’t contemplate multiple mag dumps so I don’t think that would be a problem. I’ll ask them when I get over there though to make sure (they are local).

Edit: I dropped by yesterday and they said no problem if I don’t get carried away. About the most I’ll be doing is 123 drills, (mostly with a 22rf conversion).
