I just received my new MRP and decided to do a full cleaning which included removing the barrel. Upon reinstallation, I tightened it using the supplie torque wrench but stopped short of the click because it seemed quite tight. I have never used a click type torque wrench and am used to the beam ones. Shooting didn’t seem to be an issue but I figured I would go ahead and tighten it to the full 140 as the wrench was calibrated. Haven’t shot it yet, but am concerned it might be too tight and might damage the rifle or receiver. Anybody have this issue before?
The bolt heads are designed to shear off before they damage the receiver so don’t worry about it (not sayin’ crank it, just that it is fine now, no need to mess w/ it). I mis-placed my supplied wrench and have just been doing it by hand with a normal ratchet, erring on the low side. The original spec was 90-something in/lbs, then they upped it to 140 for some reason.
Mine hasn’t come loose at all.
Thanks man, my obsessive compulsive mind can be at ease now.
The torque wrench supplied with the gun is a huge honking piece of crap.
If you’re going to be doing alot of barrel changing i would strongly encourage you to replace it with a better, american made wrench.
What model did you get pal, can I please see a pic:p
My 10.5 MRP came from the factory at about 90-100 in lbs, its sitting at 110 in lbs now. No issues
Do you have figure 8 washer or two individual silver washers under your bolts?
The very first few had the two silver washers and called for 90lbs.
All others since have a figure eight washer and call for 140lbs.
