I recently picked up an MRO with the lower 1/3 Mount for a good price. I personally prefer the QD for my mounts and absolute co witness so I’ll be grabbing a new mount.
I’ve sort of narrowed it down to the bobro, midwest industries, and adm.
Anybody have experience with any of these?
I really like the bobro, but the MI looks pretty good too. The price for the ADM is great but is it any worse than the other two?
I have an ADM on an MRO equipped carbine that 's seen a lot of use/abuse and is still in good shape/functional.
I have used Bobro, Larue and (one) MI QD offset mounts on several LPV equipped guns and have had no issues with any of them.
I don’t disagree that aesthetics aren’t a good reason to pick a mount but if there are better looking options that will function better on or par with the one I don’t like the aesthetics of, I’m going with the one that is appealing to my eye.
Another factor is personally, I like the throw lever for my qd option, it’s just what I’m used to.
Also, the cheapest I can find the even find
the scalarworks is $50 more than the bobro which is fairly expensive. The Bobro can be had for like $98 on a certain website.
All that said, I have no doubts the scalarworks is a great mount.
Edit: Thinking about it more, cost is probably the biggest factor why I wouldn’t get the scalarworks over everything else. If I could get it for around $100 I’d likely end up giving it a try to be honest.
I was looking into the ADM and I saw sometimes they are prone to rust. If this is true I’m 0% interested. I’ve never only had ADM. I only really have bought LaRue mounts and want to try something else.
I starting to think a little more about cost maybe I should start considering options like the scalarworks and sidelok even if they are slightly more expensive. It’s not like it’s several hundred dollar difference in price.
Perhaps the hardware could be. But the mount itself is aluminum so it can’t rust. That being said, I have several of there mounts and never had rust issues
I have a MI mount. Its QD lever is reminicent of the EOTech EXPS QD lever. I really like it and when I get my second MRO, it is going to get a MI mount too.
