So it appears my job will have me residing in a non-NFA state for a couple of years. During my time here in Oregon I have acquired nearly a dozen NFA items that I don’t wish to have to re-purchasing when residing in an NFA state again.
Can NFA items be left in storage in any NFA state?
Also, can I transport my register SBR receivers into an unfriendly state by affixing 16" barrels to them? and then reinstalling the short barrels again upon exiting the state and still be legal?
I really wish that people would at least attempt to use the search button.

Installation of a barrel greater than 16 inches in length (SBR) or 18 inches in length (SBS) will remove the firearm from the purview of the NFA provided the registrant does not maintain control over the parts necessary to reconfigure the firearm as a SBR or SBS.
