Moving issue

I may need to move to a nearby apartment, and rent out my house. I’m considering making a storage area for me in my basement where my safe is, and leaving the guns there. I don’t know if that would be a NFA violation, but I’m calling my lawyer. Anyone else gone from house to apt? If so what did you do with your guns?

The more I think about this the less I like the idea of leaving my guns at the house in my safe. I’m going to talk to my dealer and see if I can work out something for storage.

Why not get a small safe and secure them at the apartment?

That’s probably what I’m going to do. Can’t tell you how long it’s been since I’ve lived in an apartment, but finances may dictate it. It will be a challenge getting reorganized.

Well I wouldn’t like leaving my firearms in a house I wasn’t in. As for a legal issue I’d have to lean towards no issue seeing you own the house, but as I type this I began thinking, “doesn’t someone in the household need atleast an FID card?”. That’s my state tho.

Sent from my IPhone, please ignore spelling mistakes. Siri is dumb.

If he rents the house out, he still owns it. But, I wouldn’t leave my stuff somewhere where I didn’t have oversight.

Take the guns with you.

Obviously I’m not a lawyer…but it’s my understanding that as long as they don’t have access to the safe(code/key) then they don’t have possession of your firearms…and that this is true even if you didn’t own the house. I’d ask a lawyer before doing going down that road though…so like I said, just take the guns with you.

ETA: “FID card.” Gross. Move out of MA. Boston is cool to visit…it’ll still be there for you to do just that.
