Mounting IR DBAL and sighting it in?

I recently purchased a DBAL 2 for my AR15 / Night vision set up. Im curious how you guys have been mounting this system… Currently I have it sitting just infront of my Aimpoint on the top rail. The laser in relation to the barrel sits on the upper right side. Whats your preferred way to sight in your IR laser? I thinking sight it in at 100 yards?? Because my Gen 3 night vision without/IR on a fairly dark night is good for 200-300 yards. Also if I sight it in too close I’ll have to compensate more at longer ranges. There is also a chance that under 100 yards I wont have to use the IR to acquire a target and just use my normal vision and Aimpoint red dot.

Just thinking out loud. Let me know what you all think.

I am currently running a DBAL-i2 in front of my ACOG. I like this current setup and it works for me.

What do you have yours sited in at? I noticed with Your DBAL it is low enough to clear your optic. Thats the 1 thing i dont like about the DBAL2 is that its just fat enough to be seen through the very bottom portion of the aimpoint pro. Thats why I considered mounting it on the side of the rifle . But like the feel of it sitting right on top… also less chance of snagging on my body.

I currently have it sighted in at 25 yards since my indoor range only goes out to 25 yards. I haven’t had the chance to go to a 100 yard range yet. But that is the ultimate goal.
