OK Guys, I bought a Mossberg 930 and really like it but it has no sights except for the front bead. I put a rail on it and a red dot on top of that but it just dosen’t cut the mustard.
Anyone know of a decent Iron sights that I could put on this? Maybe even with Tritium ?
The SPX version of the 930 wears LPA sights as do some other highly thought of shotguns.
Yea, I bought the wrong model. I got the one with the breacher brake. I put a rail on it and mounted a red dot but it just dosen’t cut the mustard. Nothing worse than having to remember to turn on your sight before you need to use it.
Aimpoint T1 or H1? 
Or you can go even smaller with a Jpoint, Docter, or other mini-red-dot. I use a Pride-Fowler on my SPX that very fortunately seems to co-witness with the front sight when my head’s down.
The ‘perfect’ MRDS hasn’t been built yet, but Insight’s MRDS is getting awfully close
i have a TNVC RDPII mounted on my 930 SPX with the LPA iron in sort of a co-witness. Never lost zero , works great, and not to bad on the wallet.
I have a set of the Mossberg factory ghost ring sights for it. The rear just screws on but the front has to be silver soldered I believe and I’m at a loss as to where to have that done. I may try it myself but I’m afraid damage it or not do it right. I do like the sights though, mostly since I’m used to them. Anyone have a source for a gunsmith that can do this work?
p.s. I love the 930. I put about 500 rounds through it so far, all different sorts. Low brass #8, high-brass and low recoil slug, several different brands of buckshot of varying velocity and size. Not one malfunction. It does need adjustable sights though.
Can you buy an extra barrel with the front sight already installed?
It seems MMC doesn’t make that sight anymore. I did order an XS banded front sight from Brownell’s and just installed it today. I’m glad this thread popped up since the 930 sight issue has been on the back burner for about 6 months and now it’s done. I can’t get to a range till fri. Hope it works with the factory Mossberg rear ghost ring since I got it for free!
Mossberg does not offer that barrel as a part. You will also most likely have some issues if you purchase a set of standard LPA’s to install on your current barrel as there have been some issues with the height of the front sight on early production models. Mossberg seems to have fixed this on the current production, but they are using a “non-standard” LPA front sight.
You best bet as others have recommended is going with a MRDS from one of the recommended vendors or horse trading your way into a SPX.
What sight did you end up getting from Brownells? I can’t find it and need one. How did if work with the factory ghost ring?
I couldn’t find one listed for Mossberg so I ordered one Brownells had listed for Remington. I checked the barrel diameter with a micrometer before ordering to be sure it would work. It worked perfectly with the factory Mossberg ghost ring rear. You can also order the XS with a rear sight, more than twice as much though:
