Anyone maybe know why the Mariner model is 1/2 lb. lighter than similarly configured models in the 590A1 lineup? (6.75 vs. 7.25 lb.)
I’m still looking for the answer, but the only possible difference I see on the surface is one of the models has a speed feed. No idea if that could account for the increase in weight.
nvm shoot! they have a regular version with bead and no speed feed that is still heavier. Man this is really getting to me now, how can I not find this. I hope someone who knows chimes in soon before I drive myself insane!
E-mail or call Mossberg?
I am guessing barrel profile.
OK. Just spoke with Mossberg CS. The same parts are used throughout the 590A1 series. Their explanation for the difference in weight is the finish. The other models are parkerized inside and out, vs. the Mariner which just has the special outer finish.
Weights have to be approximations, but seriously … 1/2 pound?
What SKU’s are you looking at? Most likely differance is either you are looking at a non-A1 590 which uses a lighter barrel vs. an A1 heavy barrel wall. If your looking at their website the only Mariner 's listed are 500’s (50273, 50278) and a plain 590 (50229).
I don’t believe they have any A1 Mariner’s that are catalouged. Don’t get me started on the call center…
