today while zeroing my carbine I took out the shotgun as well, I am definitely a fan of the 12 ga as an all around home defense solution.
I was shooting at 25m targets, and using #7 shot, I was very pleased with the patterning I was getting. I still haven’t tested it with the 00 buck but overall this particular shotty fits my needs very well.
It has the 18 in bbl with the extended magazine, I have made no changes to the gun yet but will add a sling and possibly a red dot sight at some point.
My all time favorite shotgun is the 870P but this one is a solid package.
Anyone else using the Mossberg? And if so what mods and sights are you using?
We issue the 500 here, with the factory ghost ring sights. Very durable, reliable guns.
A Mossberg 500A was the very first firearm I ever purchased way back in 1987 or thereabouts. Mine has the 18" barrel and 5 shot tube. I’ve never really shot it much and it’s still in great shape, and it is still in service in my inventory. In fact, I plan on using it for some local 3 Gun matches that I’ve started participating in.
Over the years I’ve added a speedfeed stock, side saddle carrier and a barrel shroud. Mine came with the BB front sight, so I’ve also been thinking about adding one of the Big Dot Tritium Front Sights from Brownells.
