Mossberg 500 and TRL-1 weapon light

Does anyone know of a way to install a TRL-1 (or similar) light on a Mossberg 500 forearm?

I’d like to install a light on my Mossberg Model 500 Persuader Tactical Shotgun 50145, 20 Gauge, 20 in, for home defense. Mossberg does not sell their tactical tri-rail forearm for 20 gauage, so thats out of the question.

The TRL-1 only requires about a 2 inch picatinney type rail, so any ideas on how to mount one?

Your opinions, please.

Would the grip replacement with rails from mako work: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/SHT078-1.html

Otherwise some jbweld and a rail section and you could fab one up pretty easy.

I have mine mounted on one of these mounted on the mag tube just in front of the forearm. It is easily reached with my index finger.

Sjonny, you da man!!

The Streamlight Tactical Flashlight Mag Tube Rail Mount 69901 is exacly what I am looking for. And Optics planet has it for less than $19.

This is why these forums are so helpful. Thanks Guys!!:thank_you2:

When I got it I figured, it’s only $16 (I’ve had it a while) what have I got to lose? I haven’t been easy with it over the past couple of years and it’s held up and stayed put. That’s all I need it to do.

If you want something stronger, has a QD sling mount or interchangeable Picatinny, go with Mesa Tactical. Plus it would look BAD ASS

Please tell me about your sling setup.

What would you like to know? Its an old canvas 2 point

How is it attatched? I’ve been looking for a similar setup for a bit.

Oh got ya. I used Blackhawk!!! sling swivels, the front sling mount is attached to the front of the Mag. tube, the other its mounted to bottom of the stock, 6 o’clock. The Light mount has a QD mount, not sure if ill ever use it

Can you link me to the swivels please? Thanks!

Sure can. http://www.blackhawk.com/product/Bolt-Action-Machine-Screw-Type,150,115.htm

looks like a sling from a 2qt canteen pouch

It does look like that. And it works. I go off function, not “names”. Sorry I cant be “Tacticool” enough for you:thank_you2:

I mounted a TLR1s on a 12GA Mossberg 500 just a few weeks ago. I used a replacement foreend from ATI, called the Talon Tactical Stock and Forend. It was pretty easy to install and I mounted the TLR on the side of the forend, where my thumb naturally rests. I don’t know of any foreends specifically for a 20GA, but I would think that as long as the replacement part grips properly on each side of the new pump, you could easily put something else in to shim around the internal metal piece that’s already inside of the stock forend (maybe a bike tube or two)?

If your not looking for fancy I’ve seen small 1" rails just screwed into the plastic forearms. They seem to have held up to some use and abuse. Cheap option but I wouldn’t use it in a mil-spec style build where it is commonly carried to protect your life.

On a buddies work 870 I used a cheapo plastic rail cut to size, sanded to fit, and then epoxied and bolted it to a factory pump grip. Just counter sunk the bolts a bit inside the grip. Not super pretty, but not bad. The rail was long enough to cut down and get two sets out of. You could do something similar with a 500. Just knock the ribs down a bit on the grip to mount. Easy, cheap, and effective.

I did this about 12 years ago on my 590A1. Works very well and all you need is a Weaver rail section (this one was from a Remmy 700 set) and a couple of screws & nuts.

For my 590 I used the SF railed forearm

I have a barrel SF light with a VTAC mount, but you could just as easily attach a rail type light as you have. It’s not cheap, but as with most things in life, you get what you pay for.

I think I would use duct tape before I spent 6 bills just to have a flashlight on my shotgun.

I think that price is a little ridiculous.

I own alot of Surefire products but thats bullshit for a light mount
