Hey guys,I was looking on LMT website and saw these & thought they looked pretty cool ! 
I know LMT stuff is top notch,but just wondering what the scoop is on these babies !!! It makes sense,one piece,less parts,“STRONG” etc !! Anyone have one,what’s your take on them ? Thanks for any info.

I have two and love them, both rifle length. One is my patrol rifle, the other is more of a predator set-up, although my old man doesn’t usually give the predator set-up back to me long enough to shoot it (he thinks its his!). Anyway, rock solid, beautiful machining, less parts, has always been extremely reliable and plenty accurate. Negatives are that its a little heavy in the rifle length trim with the 18" barrel and it only takes an LMT barrel. This is where I think the Vltor one piece upper may be a better set up because I believe it will take any standard AR barrel. I have no experience with the Vltor piece. Rapid change barrel is a plus if that is something you will do but I haven’t and don’t plan on it. If you wanted to shoot .204 and 6.8 through the same platform, it would be a pretty quick swap. I’m a fan of the MRP and would give it 2 thumbs up if you are prepared for the price. I recommend it without reservations-Norcal911

Thanks for the quick reply guys !! It sure looks like a good setup ! I was thinking about the Carbine, CQB setup,so it would be a little lighter I guess than the rifle length. I have seen the Colt 6940 (Catalog) & knew that Vltor made them but not Mega,I will check them out also !! Yea the price is up there,but figure in a Upper,all the little parts plus a rail system and you will be spending some $$$,not as much as the full one piece upper,but maybe close depending on what you buy !! I’ll keep lookin and decide after my Tax return gets here,:D,LOL !! I’ll keep ya posted,Thanks again !
Keep in mind with the MRP you are limited to using LMT barrels. You cannot put a standard AR barrel in there in the future. LMT does make good barrels but just something to think about.
Another option (not mono but does basically the same thing) is the URX rail by Knights. The rail just screws onto the upper rec, the barrel is inserted, and then the barrel night is tightened down. You can use standard AR barrels, they are very light, and have an integrated front sight in the rail. Slick setup…
I think the Vltor is very wide. No personal experience with the other mono uppers out there.
LaRue is also coming out with the OBR-Lite. Something to look into, also.
We’ve got a few CQB length MRPs with various length barrels from 12.5 <-> 18". They work very well in both 5.56 & 6.8SPC.
They are a tad heavier than a “lightweight” rail/pencil barrel build but definitely dependable and solid.
Just one more comment, you can move to a piston conversion should you consider doing that. Its cheaper than buying a complete upper.
Same “quick” change out system.
BTW I believe one is for sale on the EE forum.
I have a LMT Midlength, rifle upper.
Pros:
-It’s very well constructed.
-Changable barrel, for multiple calibers.
- Pretty accurate
Cons:
-Torque wrench is substandard.
-Compared to my other ARs, it heavy.

I love my CQB MRP… the only thing I would caution you to do is make sure you’re happy with the weight of the gun and length of the rail, since it would take a new upper to do anything about it. The CQB model isn’t a great platform for a 12:00 light mount, for instance, unless you’re willing to have less-than-carbine-length iron sight radius.
The 16" MRP barrel is a middy, too, which is sometimes overlooked. It shoots nice and comes with a lot of extras. Back last year when Colt 6920’s were selling for $1800, an MRP was an awesome deal, if you could find one. Still a pretty good value for what you’re getting.
