I finally picked up the MOE handguards for my 6920 yesterday. Installed them last night and am extremely pleased with the TIGHT lock-up. They seem more solid than the “fat boys” I took off, and completely changed the “feel” of the carbine in my hands.
My question is, do you guys that run this handguard with the “stock” Colt front sling mount have to relieve the front edge of the handguard to give proper clearance to the swivel, or do you use “as is”, OR, do you relocate the front sling attachment point?
I’d rather not relocate, but welcome your input.
Thanks,

I’d have to find the link, but there’s a pretty good write up on integrating a QD socket into the MOE handguard, which is what I’m going to do for one of mine.
Here’s the hardware:

I think this is post pinzgauer is referring to?

I’m running the above on 2 rifles with Blue Force/Vickers slings with QD mounts. The rear attachment is in the QD point of a Magpul CTR.
I’m very happy with them.

I cut this one back and rounded the edge.
This is the one I’m referring to. The link shows one installed on an MOE.
There is a detailed installation post either here or on TOS, really just need a drill bit.
What’s nice is it can’t loosen and fall off, as it’s got a flange on the inside.
Priced right as well. They also have limited rotation ones available as well.
I had been agonizing HK hooks vs QD, but this and memory of quieting down rattly hooks swung me.
Here’s what I use http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/quick-detach-sling-mount/
I use as is for now. Doesn’t bug me.
Here’s the link to the install.

It’s actually linked on Mount-n-slot’s product page for the mount in question.

If you are looking to keep the Colt swivel, I have seen where folks have taken the Colt sling mount and flipped it so that it wants to fold toward the muzzle. It has built in stops that will keep it from pulling back so hard against the moe. If you are looking to change it I have made my own swivel sockets, made some out of wire loops, used the Noveske sockets and the IWC micro sockets. They all work just fine, the IWC has the cleanest appearance, even with that blood thirsty spiral lock ring. The Noveske is a close 2nd on and is easier to install so I guess it gets my vote. If I bought another I’d surely order a Noveske.:big_boss:
Thanks for the excellent feedback. I may just trim the MOE on the carbine since the front mount is already there, but I think I’m gonna try that great looking IWC mount on my BCM mid-length. I do know that I sure like the MOE on the 6920.
Thanks again for all the ideas.

I’m curious is to how the MOE handguard fits to a heavy M4 profile barrel? Tight? Too tight?
The shield will rub when you slip it on and off, but they work just fine on a heavy profile barrel.
Cool. My first AR is a Bushmaster (post-ban when they were something) and it has the heavy barrel to it. Want to get rid of the those bulky hand guards.
Yep, I like the IWC, but was also going to suggest removing and reversing the stock part as well.
I just put an MOE on my 14.5" BCM patrol rifle and really like it. Very solid and sturdy item. I also use the IWC socket for the QD sling on the MOE.
I use the IWC QD Rotation Limited cup as well:
