Hey guys I’m a Leo in Missouri. I currently carry a 1911 and use my g17 as off duty home defense. I’m thinking about doing some enhancing of my glock but what do yall think. I’ve never had a problem with my glock but I know how some don’t like the Gen 4. Do most aftermarket parts fit the Gen 4 as well as the 3

Many aftermarket parts like extended slide hold open levers fit the Gen 4. Same with sights and some trigger parts. Recoil springs, barrels and grip attachments may not. Really, the original parts tend to be fine so there’s no rush to swap them out in a new Gen 4 unless you actually have a problem. You may need to get an updated ejector in addition to the RSA you already have.
The only mod I did to both of my Glock 17’s (gen 3 and 4) is to put Tru Glo fiber optic night sights on them and to put in Glocks 4.5 pound connector. I prefer the Gen 4 for the slimmer grip and the texture on the grip. The grip angle on the Gen 4 is also more like a 1911.

I have only owned Gen3 so can’t comment on Gen4’s but I have always heard that the number one cause of malfunction’s in Glock’s are when people mod them. I can’t say I believe it or not since I’ve never modded one, I’ve always liked them the way they are.
