OOpps that did’nt work out to well for the vikings. GO SAINTS!!!![]()
I stand by my previous post. ![]()
Although I do congratulate the Vikings on their first Superbowl. Any other time I would be cheering for them.
Brett Favre did not run up the score on the cowgirls. If they could not stop him from scoring, how is it his fault? What was the score of the last cowboys-Eagles game again?
I am glad the Saints won, but I loved Minnesota’s beatdown on the cowgirls. Having scott cry about it was priceless.
I’m from and in Baton Rouge and I work in New Orleans. I think (and thought) they would, too. I also thought that the Saints COULD still beat them IFF their defense could cover and tackle well as well as cause a few turnovers. I was correct on both accounts. The Vikings DID dominate the game but their turnovers gave Brees the opportunities and, of course, he eventually made good on them.
I also felt that who ever won the NFC Championship would win the Super Bowl. I hope I’m correct, too.
It was a helluva game.
yeah right…most teams with big leads never take the knee in the last minute to run out the clock like sportsman. It was simply classless and an act more fitting to buddy ryan. The time left on the clock tells you they ran up the score. Honestly, I think the coach is a bit more to blame that favre and really made the team look bad (accept to the boy haters, which i know there are plenty). Those two teams have traditionally played very clean games with common respect. Most football fans & players know the difference.
I’ll bathe in my poetic justice of a bone-headed interception for now.![]()
i wanted favre to lose because of the crybaby BS he pulled the last couple of years
I was (and still am) a Miami Hurricane football fan as well as someone who liked the way FL State and Univ of FL would beat the living DNA out of you if they could back in the day. I’m not againt “running up the score”. If I beat you by three that’s all I had. Period. If I can put a hundred points between us believe me I’ll go for it. PERHAPS, that’s a bit selfish (for lack of terminology) but that’s how I am.
I had a really good coach who stresseed sportsmanship above all else back in HS and I just think running up the score with under a minute left is tacky & not really how the game should be taught…especially to the young-uns who look up to these teams. It ultimatly leaves bad blood & the end game handshake between players and coaches ‘should’ be meaningful.’
…but that’s just how i am.
I don’t disagree at all. I played football but excelled in track and competed in judo so it’s a bit different with the individual sports as opposed to team ones.
And if I were a coach (in something less than college) I’d certainly follow how I was taught in football - backing off when the victory is in hand. The ‘killer instinct’ is prevalent on the college level and if left to the players (that I’ve known and currently know - at LSU, Miami and Univ of MI) they’d run up the score much more often than not. That level of athlete isn’t “normal”; they are quite like Pit Bulls. It’s truly up to the coaching staff to keep things in perspective.
GEAUX SAINTS!
Great game. I thought my heart was going to pop out of my chest and at the end I felt like I needed an Advil the size of a bowling ball for a headache. At the end my whole neighborhood ran out of their homes and were rejoicing in the street. All smiles, some tears. Someone was even shooting off fireworks.
The saints defense gave up a lot but came in strong when they needed to. Drew Brees, despite only being sacked once and flushed out a couple of times, could not seem to get comfortable and find a groove but understandably so due to the magnitude of the game. The vikings are a hell of a team and even with a busted ankle Brett Favre still led them down the field like a champion. Even though he made a bad decision at the end he still did an outstanding job. Im still a Brett fan.
