IMI Razor Core (MK262 clone) claims to be “the new 2000 foot round”. How is it lethal to that distance? According to http://www.ar15.com/ammo/project/Ballistic_Gel_Experiments/BTAmmoLabsTest6/Test6.htm it drops below threshold of fragmentation at 300 yards? Not sure how it’s supposed to be lethal out to 650 yards, if those last 350 yard hits are just going to result in caliber-sized holes?

Yes. You’re missing something. I downloaded some 77 gr SMKs to trans and subsonic. The bullet doesn’t frag but it turns sideways and keeps on going. I tried several times to recover a bullet in several jugs, but the bullet penetrated too deep and keyholed consistently. So you’re going to get a respectable would even beyond 900 yards.
Also… Iraqgunz had a guy tell him about a long range Mk 262 kill that was pretty impressive.

I didn’t consider the key-hole aspect of it. I didn’t think that would make a significant wound, but i guess you’re right, maybe it would.

You’re right, Mk 262 is not new. IMI is just using the ballistic potential to advertise their round. If you’re routinely taking shots beyond 600 yards outside of competition or the simple enjoyment of ringing steel or putting holes in paper, I would argue that you may want something bigger than a 5.56.
