I’ve read a fair amount about the benefits of the Black Hills ammo for both longer range and shorter barrel work.
So who in the US military is using it? Why wasn’t/isn’t this rolled out instead of 855A1 or the never-ending search for a second intermediate cartridge?
It lacks barrier penetration.
Ya, the trade off for better soft tissue ballistics. It’s on average about 200-250 FPS slower than 855 rounds.

855A1 was a solution for near peer threats with body armor.
I thought the peer threat with body armor round was the XM1158 ADVAP along with M993 and M995? The M855A1 was more of the general issue round that could match desired characteristics along with improved terminal performance from the SS109/M855 but out of 14.5" barrels?
That’s all true, but I thought one of the main motivations behind improving it was penetration of body armor.
I’m curious how a 55g version of the 855a1 round would do. More velocity generally doesn’t hurt.
