I know this sounds like a noob question, however I FINALY finished my build using the Centurion HF LW 16" that I purchased months ago. Ive put under 100 rounds through it the other day, however i had problems with a bushmaster trigger. Bah imagine that.
Anyway, I was unloading the rifle yesterday and found that the round would not extract from the chamber. So I mortared it.
Round came out.
Thought maybe I had a bad handload.
So I chambered another round. Same issue.
I found that they do extract with extremely excessive force.
So, I tried clambering some new PMC.
Same thing.
Weird part is the rifle had no issue extracting rounds when I was at the range sighting in. Cleaned the chamber and the issue still remains. Is it possible that these barrels have much tighter chambers?
I know a match grade 10/22 gun I put together will not unchamber rounds unless they are fired.
Any info would be great as I am temporarily at a loss until I pull my head from my rump and think about this logically.
Thank You.
I had cleaned the chamber and not the barrel extension.
When I cut the upper to M4 ramps (I know, I know), I got cut short and called to work and never cleaned out the extension.
Aluminum filings obstructing the bolt lungs apparently created some issues only when a round was chamber.
This was about the most ignorant thing Ive done. :suicide2: Live and learn.
With bad eyes and very hot 55gr I shot ~2" at 100 with irons.
I just handloaded some 77gr Sierra w/ 24gr Varget.
My optic should be here around Tuesday so I’ll post a few pics once I get that on as my groups are not the best with irons.
So between those two I’m hoping to be sub 3/4"
Will update with better info in a few days.
Forgot to add some critical info.
My last build (different barrel) shot 3/4" at 100yd w/ optic
I shot ~2in groups with irons.
I ended up sending it out to be cut down to 14.5
Just got the barrel back today but I’m waiting for my new TRX Extreme 11" to come in. I should know in a week or so… again.
