The one result, Aguila, says they work fine in a Win Defender 1300 which is what I have lol.
They used to not be allowed not sure about now as they are a non issue with the 9 at the start rule and they are too small to be easy to load 2 or load 4 with. For open we use detachable mag fed shotguns like my R&R Saiga if you want to win.

They would be awesome in an open Benelli with a tube on it. Great way to bump up capacity.
What shells are you looking at? I’d like to try some.
I think the 2-3 guys that have win every major open division 3 gun and shotgun match this year would disagree. Jerry runs a mossberg with a tube. Mike Voight runs a Benelli or maybe a Versamax now with a tube and Mark Roth won two shotgun titles with his XRail Benelli.
If there is an official rulebook I’d like to read it.
In the meantime what I have read is the same, an 8+1 max at the start of a stage but unlimited after that.
I think your big problem will be that all shell carriers are made for 2 3/4" shells. Your shotgun could hold more, but getting them in the gun could be a problem.
