militec.... yes again

I use Slip 2000 EWL mixed 50/50 with Royal Purple 75W-90 gear lube.

Slick. As. Snot.

The stuff stays put (it stinks a little bit, but that fades after application), and the BCG in my AR runs like it’s on greased ball bearings.

I used Militec for a while…and gave it away. I’m in middle FL and the humidity was KILLING ME. Rust everywhere. The Militec was an improvement from the no-name ‘gun oil’ that came with my friend’s cleaning kit.

New gun lubes like Slip, WeaponShield, Brownells Friction Defense, MG’s Lube, Gun Butter, TWB25, etc are VAST improvements over the regular CLP. Now LP, on the other hand, seems to work great…that’s another ball of wax.

It smells horrible because it’s bad for you. It’s toxic, and can cause hallucinations in high heat conditions.

I have used Militec and liked it lube properties.

Lately I’ve been using Weapon Shield with good results.

Militec seemed cool until I actually used it, then I discovered that it sucks. Plus it’s toxic, like 120mm said. I think they use chlorinated paraffins in it. Stick to oil type lubes.

i asked militec if they used chlorinated parafins they said no
i have no up date from the landrover swivel grease yet
i will let u guys know in a month or so. the only down side is see from using it is that it’s no synthetic based

bonus!

i’ve been using the old CLP but after all the good remarks i’m going to pick up some Slip and Weapon Shield and give them a go.

I have about twenty little bottles of Miltec that I’ve picked up at trade shows and matches. It works well enough, I guess. No corrosion protection, as mentioned, and it does stink.

I’ve been using Gun Butter on my pistols and ARs this year, and I like it a lot. Very slippery, and it seems to stay where you put it pretty well.

I had three of the bigger bottles of Militec (6 oz?) that someone from Militec shipped me in a beta test sort of way, a long time ago. After the barrel and rear ghost ring of my Militec-lubed Benelli M1S90 turned orange (the sight grew this amazing orange fur, it looked like the love child of Elmo and an Erector set) from the hostile environment found laying under my bed, I put the stuff on the shelf in my garage and forgot about it…until one day I was looking for some 2-cycle oil to cut some gas for my weed-eater. I wound up burning the rest of it in the weed-eater a couple of summers ago.

It worked okay for that, but it stunk like hell. Goodbye and good riddance.

I like Militec-1 and I like Weapons Shield.

I don’t care about the smell–it’s a rifle, not a vagina. YMMV.

Thanks alot…I just spit my drink all over my new monitor.

I’ve had good luck with BreakFree CLP (non-aerosol), Slip 2000 EWL, Weapon Shield CLP, and Sprinco Machine Gunners Lube.

Slip 2000 and Machine Gunners Lube have not proven to be as effective in terms of rust prevention on guns exposed to the elements as WS CLP and BF CLP for me personally.
