Hey guys, I’m looking into getting one of the extended rails so that I can mount a weapon light (like the TLR1) in front of the FSB. However, I have a midlength gas system. What are my options here? I saw the Adams Arms one but, for the most part, that’s all I’ve really seen and I’d like to stay below $300 with it.
What are some of my options for extended midlength rails that just give me the extended sides and bottom rails? That would still allow a side/bottom mount farther out where it’s more comfortable for me.
aaron, current FSP rails use carbine (7"), midlength is a 9" gas system. unless you’ve got a really long reach, I think having a 12:00 light in front of a midlength FSB is not going to be ideal.
if you’re wedded to the midlength, consider the Centurion Arms midlength cut-out rail. I have one and I’m very impressed with it and its application.
or simply consider using an 11’ or longer rail over a gasblock and this will let you mount your light and BUIS wherever you want…
I read where the Centurion rail can be installed without removing the FSB or FH. Just wanted to confirm with one of you guys that actually has one, that my eyes didn’t deceive me when I read that. Install was smooth?
you have to remove the delta ring and welded spring and c-clip. I used a dremel.
you also have to remove the guard cap that’s held on by the FSB which you can do with snips and vice grips but this can scar up your barrel and FSB is you’re not careful. much cleaner/easier to just pull off the FH and FSB.
once installed, I was absolutely thrilled with how great this rail is. you can’t go wrong…
Is the Troy one compatible with a midlength gas system? Right now the Centurion one is the leader by far for me, that thing looks absolutely sick and doesn’t weigh too much- however, the price on the Troy unit is tempting.
Yes, it is very simple. Cut the Delta ring cap, pull off the spring, cut off the handguard cap. Its easier if you pull tap out the gas tube rollpin and pull the gas tube.
