What is the shortest barrel that i can get with a mid length gas system?
Many will say 14.5 reliably.
For commercially available barrels, the shortest I’ve seen is 14.5".
I’m not sure how much shorter you’d want to go.
I wouldn’t go shorter than a 14.5" middy, you’d be asking for a fussy operation with plain jane ammo.
I would agree on the 14.5. The 12.5 Kino configuration is a carbine gas system with a front sight post at the mid length distance of 9 inches. I don’t see anyone going through the trouble of adding a gas block AND a front sight post if the 12.5 worked with mid gas.

12.5 works fine in middy. I have one for sale in the EE. BUT, it is just a low pro gas block and 12.85 rail…
Your gas port must be the size of Madonna’s vag.
Couldnt tell ya… It was a custom build, iirc the only differance in mine and Costa’s is that his is bead blasted stainless and mine is all blingy and sh!t.
There is a video on youtube that we shot using the mag5-100. Surefire brake makes it a laser beam…
