I’ve been brainstorming a mid-length upper build. I really like the Noveske N4 but it doesn’t come in mid length gas system or a 16" barrel which is a deal breaker for me. I want to build a top-tier reliable carbine though and this is what I’ve come up with. Tell me what you guys think.
Upper: LaRue Stealth/ DD 10.0 lite rail/ PRI Gasbuster
Bolt/carrier: FN contracted BCG
Barrel: Dennys 16" mid-length Operator w/cut down FSB
If you like Noveske and the MUR, you might want to look at Noveske’s VIS uppers. A friend of mine has a 16" barreled midlength Noveske VIS upper (12" rifle length VIS) with an ACOG TA31 and it’s really nice.
With your current plans, you should double check that you can install the DD Lite onto the MUR upper. I don’t know if it will be a problem fitting the locking ring with the 6 hex screws, but because of the MUR’s different shape it might be.
Yes. They are Govt. Profiled Middy with a 556 Chamber. They will be available with a fixed FSB and or with nothing (stripped). Pricing will most likely be between $225-$250 I think.
They are usually hard to get. The other issue is that they are expensive and you can basically build a custom Noveske with LT FF rails for the price of one of their standard uppers. This is a hard pill for most people to swallow I think.
