MIAD vs. TD Battlegrip

I’m thinking about changing the pistol grip on my carbine. The MIAD and the BG seem to be the big favorites here. I’d like to hear why you like one versus the other.

This thread has some good info too.

If you’re carrying a gun all day or plan on extended shooting sessions that are more than picking the gun up off the bench & tabling it after the string, you’d be hard pressed to beat the TD battle grip.
I hate finger grooves unless I’m trying to lock into a solid dot shooter position.
I hate the gap between the grip & trigger guard even more.

I tried both and found the TD Battel Grip was the least annoying. It was actually the only grip that seemed to fit a variety of hands comfortably. I have come to despise finger grooves.

Thanks guys, I guess I should have looked for the search button

I got rid of my TD grip a long time ago when it gave me callouses on my middle finger. I used the Hogue rubber grips for a while until I discovered the MIAD. I recently put it on my SBR and am really liking the additional backstrap. YMMV.

The TD grip (hated it) was the 1st thing I changed out on my N4. I put an Ergo on it because I had one already and am comfortable shooting with it but I strongly considered trying out the MIAD. Both are good choices IMO, better than either the Hogue or TD for me. It does come down to personal preference, feel and hand size though so I’d recommend trying to find ARs at your gun shop, a show or range and try them out to feel what you like best.

I highly recommend adding the Magpul Enhanced trigger guard also, the Ergo does come with a Gapper so it plugs the gap between the grip and guard but the enhanced guard is just so much more comfortable to shoot with IMO.

I have both and both are great. That being said the MIAD with the medium back strap fit my largish hands better than the TD battlegrip. This allows my finger to more naturally reach the trigger than with the battlegrip YMMV. I also hate finger grooves and have the “fingergrooveless” or plain front strap on my MIADs.

So in my experience if you have larger hands the MIAD might be a better choice ,once again, YMMV.

How does a TD compare to a std A2, from a hand-filling perspective? Are they comparable or is the TD a bit larger? Does the angle of the TD end up increasing the reach to the trigger?

I know the MIAD has adjustable backstraps to tailor the size, but I like the simplicity of the TD instead.

The TD is not much different in size from the standard grip.

I go with the MIAD.

To my hands, the TD feels slightly smaller than an A2. Perhaps it is just the fact that it is much more ergonomically shaped (curved, not blocky like an A2) that makes it seem that way. I can’t say for sure, but the TD certainly doesn’t feel bigger than an A2.

For me, the angle of the TD does not increase the reach to the trigger.

I put a TD grip on for battery storage back when I had an EoTech, and found that it did not fit my hands as well as the A2 grip. It’s still on there, though, and will be until I have enough spare cash to bother changing it out for a MIAD.

The TD does feel small. I have fairly large hands, so I ordered the MIAD and will try that.

The ability to fit the grip to my hand makes it the best on the market for me, and for many I know. The texture is aggressive, and works well even in wet, cold weather, or with gloves. The storage core is solid, and last but not least, it has a solid overall feel.

I’m a fan of the A2 pistol grip, but I use a MIAD on my duty carbine.

Had both, prefer the MIAD- much more aggressive texture and more modular.

I prefer the TD with some grip tape down the front strap.

Does the MIAD come with the stainless steel screw? Never mind I found the answer.
