Got mine this week and it looks good. It’s replacing a modified BP-02 mount that weighs 11.2 ounces (vs. 6.4 for the MI) and does not co-witness (the MI does, lower 1/3rd).

The mount is well constructed and the latch mechanism is sweet. Reports thus far indicate it holds zero when re-mounting, I will test that too when I hit the range next week.

The mount holds the CompC3 very close to the cover. The front lens cap actually touches the cover but even with the lens cap removed, I could not remove the receiver cover. This IMO is a non-issue as I’ve always removed the rail-mounted optic anyway when cleaning (the BP-02 mount held zero just fine).

There is no adjustment for centering the optic over the receiver, but on my Saiga it’s so close I doubt I could get it any better even if there was an adjustment.

Compared to an Ultimak with a SA low ring, the MI mount nets out only 3 ounces more (taking into account that the Ultimak replaces the standard gas tube/top cover). In return, I get a full handguard to wrap my mitt on, no finger tip burns, easy removal/swapping of optics, and full field strip of fore end pieces. I’ll take it!

Another point on the mount design is that it works with the ACE FSM AR folding mechanism. Because it has a big hinge, the ACE mechanism can interfere with sliding a mount onto the rail - I had this happen with the BP-02. The MI rail channel and latch is designed in such a way that it can be mounted on the rail without the ACE hinge getting in the way.

Kudos to MI for this mount and support for the AK platform. After trying a lot of different mounts and optics over the years, it’s nice to see great parts becoming available!

Great Pictures, glad you enjoy it.

Update

The mount holds zero extremely well. For the typical 3 MOA rifle, you will not see any change in POI when removing/remounting.

looks well made…I want it!

$110 bucks. Can’t beat that. I got a couple AKs that are going to get optics eventually so I’ll keep it in mind.

btt

That is one nice looking mount.

thanks,
